me neither...
I do care for The Beatles.
Bond is actively listening to something he likes in Dr No. Or should I say someone? He is no doubt imagining what he will be doing with Honey Underneath The Mango Tree.
Roger Moore 1927-2017
No. Since the producers and writers were determined to make Bond into just
a cardboard action hero without any real character so that any actor could slip into his tuxedo, they purposely left out such personal characteristics. We know what material things he likes (clothes, cars, drink, etc) in the films, but anything beyond that (music, philosophy, politics, religion) is left out. In the novels, his musical tastes reflect Fleming's, who liked classical music, jazz, calypso and cocktail piano music. These musical genres were the most popular among adults during the 50's when the novels were written. Rock was becoming the most popular among teenagers, but it's popularity never got a good foothold into the tastes of older adults of Fleming's generation. People in Fleming's social circles would have recordings of Noel Coward or Bing Crosby, Al Jolson, Ray Noble or Big Band orchestras that they danced to during the previous decades.
Except, it is in his head in brilliant mind that it all occurs, rather than from headphones plugged into his Sony phone.
It's really just putting on Underneath The Mango Tree in Miss Taro's apartment. Or the "exquisite" performance in TLD. Having a character pull out music and play it actually looks quite artificial onscreen if done in a straightforward manner.
Just don't play "La Vie En Rose". He doesn't like that one...
interesting info...thanks
