Congratulations to Mads Mikkelsen on winning the best actor award at Cannes. Mikkelsen portrays the character of Lucas in the psychological thriller The Hunt. Lucas watches his life unravel after he is falsely accused of molesting a child. "Eighty per cent of this is Thomas Vinterberg's prize," Mikkelsen said as he picked up the statuette. "Thank you for inviting me into this universe of collaboration and love."

    His star definitely seems to be rising. I read yesterday that he was also cast to play the villain in Thor 2.

    Nooooooo! I am not much a fan for these comic book formula films, which I felt Thor was the epitome of.

    Mads Mikkelsen is to star as the psychiatrist turned serial killer Hannibal Lecter in NBC's thirteen episode drama series entitled 'Hannibal'. Based on the characters in Thomas Harris' novels, the prequel stars Hugh Dancy as Will Graham, the criminal profiler who is on the hunt for a serial killer with the FBI and enlists Dr. Lecter's help with the case.

    In an interview with the Huffington Post, Mads Mikkelsen remembers the day he was cast to play Le Chiffre in Casino Royale and reveals it was a bit of an anti-climax. "I had a meeting first, then a casting, and I was all ready to do the torture scene with Daniel. And there was so much going on around us, people running in and out, and then someone said 'great having you on board'. And I didn't move, and then they said 'go away, I don't want to see you, you got the job'. Daniel was standing next to me and said really quietly, 'all right - tell me your secret, because I went to five castings - who did you f***?"

    "They'd done their homework, seen my stuff, so it was fine, just a bit of an anti-climax, because I was so ready to do more for them, but it was...shrugs...you're in."

    Here are a couple of trailers for the new TV series Hannibal featuring Mads Mikkelsen as Dr. Hannibal Lecter. Also featured are Laurence Fishburne as Special Agent Jack Crawford and Hugh Dancy as Special Agent Will Graham. The series begins on NBC (US) on the 4th April. Looks impressive......and graphic.

    Hannibal is to be broadcast in the UK on Sky Living from the 7th May.

    Mads Mikkelsen is currently filming 'The Salvation', a western set in 1870's America. The story follows a settler in a corrupt community attempting to avenge the murder of his family. The supporting cast includes Eva Green and Jonathan Pryce.
