In moderation Craig looks quite good with facial hair. I wouldn't have minded him having it for longer.
You cannot be serious surely ! It served it's narrative purpose, to show us a washed up Bond at the end of his rope, and for that I think it was great.

Plot or no plot, it was decided to have Bond sport the stubble. I suspect they totally want to smash the template to show that we truly have a new Bond and one for the times, smashing any notion, or rather the trappings of the "traditional Bond," with the choice of course to revive any of the traditional elements if it serves whatever design objectives that might come up.

Why do people try to add a bit more even when the answer has been found?

Shaving gets tiresome after awhile. Sometimes, you just don't care anymore.
While some Bond fans may think its sacrilegious for James Bond to have facial hair, I didn't mind him with his disheveled look.

I don't get all the fuss about the beard thing really. Timothy Dalton had plenty of stubble in numerous scenes in Licence to Kill some 23 years before Skyfall. Big deal and yawn, zzzzzz

Pete Townshend as 007?

And the correct answer was: on a permanent bender!!!!
If only there had not been that pesky villain, The Skyfall could have been something completely different! ) ) ) ) )
