the bit I hate about adverts is that the adverts themselves have no bearing on the target audience that is supposed to be watching
example ,big war film on (a bloke film ) its going to be mostly blokes watching it ,then an advert for tampons comes on
ooohhh I must rush out and buy some ,
Really ? How much are cinema tickets ? Maybe that's how they offset costs ?
Around 9 Euros.
In the 90s there have been huge cinema chains built up and the capacity is around 50% too much as a result. Cinemas suffer and starve for cash.
Commercial breaks in the big blockbusters are pretty common - unfortunately!

god ,if they had adverts here during a film in the cinema ,I would turn my mobile phone off ,put away my family size bag of crisps,
suck the last molecule of coke out of it 5 litre tub ,fart and walk out
That's what I am always doing at the end of the movie

I hate being forced to watch previews (or adverts for related products like Sony HD TVs, studio releases etc) before the film on a DVD/Blu Ray that I've bought and own! I don't mind the previews being there because sometimes I see films that I've never heard of, but they should always be an option and never mandatory.
Connery had his own voice along all of his movies and the same guy spoke Lazenby.
Moore, Dalton, Brosnan and Craig have THEIR german voice, Brosnan and Moore where great, Craigs voice is even worse that Dalton's.
I remember having seen TSWLM at an open air cinema in France, the french Moore was hilarious

I was gonna say how does that even work, bond speaking a foreign language as SIS only recruits british citizens.... but there again if you can have bad guys hollowing out volcanos, slicing glaciers with space lasers and threatening the world with a bevy of beauties with poisoned perfume you can get away with pretty much anything. Except a gay bond, that'd just be stupid.

I paid the equivalent of that for a daytime showing last week....if they put adverts in the middle of a film then I'd never go again...no wonder they are half empty !
The numbers of empty seats has nothing to do with the presence of ads.
In the late 90s they built huge cinema complexes in Germany in every town and it was forseeable that some of them will not survive. At the moment they fight to recoup the refinancing of these adventures with small audiences.

I'm assuming these cinemas are from huge chains ? If so, why don't they close some of them ?
...because the other chain has a cinema in the same town and could benefit from a closure
Additionally, most of these complexes are not paid-off and they need every penny to pay the loans.
Like I have said in another topic (Dalton Box Office): Franchises have to grow....

This capitalist concept is illogical. There is a finite amount of wealth many companies compete for, if they ALL grew ALL the time, where would the additional wealth for them all to grow come from past what is actually available? This is wish-economics 101. )
Is a company failing if it makes 20% less this year than last? By your reckoning, definitely. If the company is voluntarily contracting, it might be a sign of longevity, but I fear this would get a little complicated for you at this point, so I'll leave it at this:
Licence To Kill made a decent profit.
I never denied that the Dalton movies made a profit.
But they sucked at the box office compared to other 007 movies and other movie franchises at that time. AVTAK, TLD and LTK are the 3 worst box offices Bonds as we could learn over the time.
Other movies served the moviegoers far better and took the audience's money which usually used to end in EONs register.
And Eon could not let it go that way.

That's a good start but the assumption is wrong.
The additional wealth comes from memorabilia, museums, sponsors, new media new audiences ( e.g. China) etc - which means diversification and expansion. And if the cake does not get bigger anymore the bigger fish eat the smaller fish. And Eon did not want to become the smaller fish.....
