I was watching an old episode of Top Gear, on the End of SAAB, Both
presenters said it was a sad day as they were extremely well made, and
their safety features went far beyond what was needed. They said the
only time you realised were the money went in the car was when you
had an accident, then you knew. :D

All true. The reason they went down was that they made too good cars! If they had managed to steal costumers from high end brands like BMW and Mercedes they might have made it, but they only competed with them in terms of quality

Whilst Higgy searches desperately to actually find or produce a picture of a jaguar looking like jimmy saville.....

    Auto **** correct.

My phone has decided, quite some time back now, that it knows better than me and has started to 'correct' even the most simple if words. See what I mean?

Even words that are a plural and end with a end up getting changed to whatever the word is, then a space, then the letter 'a'. It's like it doesn't like the letter a. I mean a. S! Again, perfect example.

Bastard thing isn't going to do much more now, I've tried typing all sorts to show as an example. It knows. It's bloody playing me. Fecking phone.

Anyway. I just wish that although useful, this rather eccentrically operating system if predictive text etc could actually be switched off by the user.

It appears that with anything with an 'I' in its name (iPhone, iCloud, iDump) seems to control itself. And you can't turn things off.

I even ended up wondering why virtually all my spare memory had disappeared until I realised U2 had invaded my phone and smuggled in their album, which guess what, I can't delete with iTunes.

What ever happened to asking first?

My rant for today: Middle Management Madness.
The guys on the ground told Hitler's Generals what was going wrong, they were afraid to tell Hitler bad news; The Nazis lost.
The guys on the ground told Bush's Generals what was possibly in the works, they were afraid to pass on mere 'possibilities'; 9-11 happened.
    CYA is SOP for failure.
And it's happening at my company, and also many others according to those workers (at the actual 'work' level) with whom I speak.
Only bold truth results in long term success.
Fear will continue to eat away at our security, both economically, and geo-politically.
We need more people with the fearless attitude of "Go ahead, tell M what you like."

I get what you're saying, and in fact agree with it.

However, it's a bit of an eyebrow raiser when you use the example of the nazis loosing WW2 through bad management to make your point. :)) I'm sure it's not intentional, but it almost sounds like it was a bad thing?

:)) I've always wondered what middle management was for. All they do
Is pass messages from the workers to upper management ( who make
The decisions ) and vice versa. Most companies could save a lot of money
By doing away with that tier of management ! :)

There is a comedy on channel4, about a police force, one management
Guru made the comment Hitler used to give the same job to two people
To see who did it better. With his junior saying " great idea top man" . :))

no, I think you'll find they just pass the bad news from higher management down to the workers....

Middle management, most civil servants, get rid of the lot.

Sadly, that would leave most unemployable and therefore a burden on the rest.

And as one of our political parties of a certain colour knows, the more you keep reliant on them for work in well-paid, not particularly taxing working the more likely you are to guarantee their vote.
  • ThunderpussyThunderpussy Behind you !Posts: 63,792MI6 Agent
    :)) I did add vice versa. ;)
I worked in a pharmaceutical company, and was amazed at the
Amount of management, there had to be at least one manager for
Every two or thee workers ! :o , I couldn't believe it ( to quote
    Victor Meldrew ) :))

I was just trying to show that the nonsense is everywhere, and has existed throughout time. In the case of Hitler, that middle management bs served humanity well.
Another small thing is the Surf Factor. Some upper management **** actually see their companies getting ready to fall, but they realize they can keep getting paid until that happens, so, who cares? They'll ride the wave down & still be set for the rest of their lives. Maybe get into politics or something...
