We're not usually trusted with such things here in turnipland. We usually just draw lines in the mud with sticks, while the posh boys take the piss as they use their slates. The politician's kids even have chalk, spoilt brats.

When I was at school we used to write on slates, they banned it after someone fell off the roof.
My rant today:
That Jordanian pilot that was burned alive.
Missiles from drones kill by concussion first, the next fatalities occur by burning alive.
I'm not in ANY WAY trying to excuse those IS murderers of their actions, but I just want to say, can we PLEASE stop trying to let video game technology do anything good in war? Bin Laden was taken out by PEOPLE.
Drones kill as many innocents as targets; it's the whole corporate mentality of "we can train average peeps to do complex work as long as they follow the protocol."
'Protocol' is designed by a-holes that never have to use the technology nor be responsible for it.
NOTHING replaces intelligent & well trained HUMAN specialists.
But drones & naive college grad gamers are cheaper.

I understand what you're saying pal but I think you're inadvertently comparing the concept of air strikes with close quarter combat.
A pilot can make an error whether sat in a cockpit or a control room. Innocent civilians caught in blast radius' has been the case since the first mills bombs were chucked out of biplanes, and I don't think that will ever change. Ordinance can be made as accurate as you like, but when that kid emerges from the back seat of the insurgent's car, there's not much to be done if a JDAM is on it's way...
Close quarter combat is equally with its risks. People get confused, disorientated and in the heat of battle it's been known for blue on blue or civilian casualty situations to occur. In the same instance many innocent people have been taken out by grenade blasts, ricochets and mistaken identity.
It's all just down to human error.
I'm not against drone use to be honest. But I don't see it as any more accurate than conventional combat flying.
What drones do do is make it safer for the pilot. It also reduces the cost if warfare by having less staff in the war zone. But on the flip side is the risk of the drone being technologically hijacked as we've seen Iran supposedly do before. If the enemy gets control of your drone then it's rather embarrassing at best, potentially fatal at worst.
As for what the Jordanians are doing now, it could go one of two ways. First ISIS could take stock and back off, understanding that some people aren't so soft as the westerners and operate on an eye for an eye basis. Secondly, and I think more likely, is that things escalate. The hostage videos will reduce and be replaced by simply execution videos. Show no mercy stuff.
The recent demand for $200m for hostage release was purely a media coverage attempt. If the extremely high ransom had been paid it'd given ISIS a massive financial boost. However, in the more likely event of it not being paid then it at least gained ISIS publicity. And it worked, here I am writing about it.
These people aren't stupid. They're fanatical and determined. What makes things inherently worse is this guerrilla type warfare is extremely difficult to fight. There's no uniforms, no countries, no set standards and no negotiating. It's all out terror, and unless we really take the gloves off we're simply living a Vietnam all over again.
I think there should be some kind of international legistlation for drone¨warfare, just as there is for several other weapons types. The use of drones today is at best problematic, so some rules of engagement would be good even if they are never followed by everyone.

It's perfectly OK to be an idiot, but they shouldn't be elected into the Senate!

How are they meant to survive? Are there charities or shelters?
Have you ever heard of the Emancipation Proclamation?"
In the future with the increase in the world's population, if any person
Becomes "uneconomical" for a country and cannot afford to live they
Should have a "Cull" of the poor !

I agree. I asume Stag is right about some Roma, but generalising about ethinc groups is questionable. Only Italians do that sort of thing, and I don't like it )
Do you also want to know the truth about many of the local car washes where you go & hand over a fiver to have your car cleaned by some eastern Europeans?
