    Very Cool -{

    What make is that airsoft UMP? Grip/handle is usually different in real 9mm than in .40 or .45...anyway, nice replica :007)

    www.hkparts.net is perhaps a good source to get real deal 9mm UMP Mag and Adam at HKparts is reputable dealer, however due to the rarity of 9mm mags they now sell them mostly to those who buy the 9mm conversion kits...anyway it's a worth a try.

    EDIT: I might have a spare one for sale around mid July...... ;)

    You don't need a FAC to order a mag in the UK, not sure about Deutchland though.

    ok, don't quote me on this but;

    i believe certain states have strict laws on exporting parts for firearms.

    i'm not sure about UK rules on importing mags, but I would call plod just to make sure.

    with HK being german, and you being in germany, wouldn't it be cheaper to enquire at source?

    not sure what others think, but i can't offer to put my neck on the line and order you one mate. i'd suggest you call your local cops and ask their advice before doing anything.

    failing that, whats the point of putting a real mag on a fake gun? i'd just find someone with a real one to take some pics for me and then make my own.

    never thought i'd say this, but nico, what a lovely big banana you got!

    anyways, back to more serious matters...

    i've just got off the phone with my local RFD (thats a gunshop to the layman), the reason why I was calling was cos i'm after some mags, they're alot cheaper in the states so was wondering if they would import them for me as customs can be tricky.

    the basic advice was this;

    'If you're going to import ANYTHING gun related then you have to do things EXACTLY right, ie paperwork, import paperwork, export, homeland (usa side) clearance etc etc.

    if you don't get it right, things could get seriously shitty. a well known gun guy who owns a large gun dealing business is now looking at 35years in a US jail for illegal arms dealing. his crime? trying to import AK mags, and he didn't get the paperwork right, apparently.'

    so bottom line nico, technically speaking, for us brits its not illegal, you just have to get everything spot on and cross all the T's and dot the I's. i suspect it's the same for you in germany.

    all the stress, cost and messing around isn't worth it IMO, especially if the gun is airsoft and it's just a wall hanger.

    make it yourself if you can't buy from someone in your own country, which would be surprising as you're the home of HK.

    hope this helps

    not a problem pal, though i don't think you'll manage to heat you mag and bend it.

    If i were you, i'd make it in wood, cover it in car body filler, sand it smooth and spray black. for the end cap i'd make that from black plastic sheet, about 1.5mm should be around ok.

    trying to heat and bend your current mag will ruin it.

    Athough not really thread creep, I thought I'd relate a story that happened to me last month, from the horse's mouth as it were.
    When I was out in LA last November a good friend, gun nut and attorney bid on an LP53 for me, I believe it was on GunsAmerica.com and got it for a really nice price. On my trip out there last month I decided to bring it back in my hold luggage. I checked in at the LAX T2 Virgin desk, which for those familiar is right next to the TSA Hold luggage x-ray suite. Knowing that said LP53 would show up as a pistol (No sh1t) I declared it to the Virgin ground staff and made sure they were aware that it was a vintage air pistol NOT a firearm requiring an FAC. The girl just got me to fill in a sheet and tagged my luggage for special handling. My case was then taken round to the x-ray suite by a TSA member. I followed it and the guy loading said that I didn't have to wait but I replied that I thought I had better do so. Sure enough said case was spotted as containing a 'pistol' and dragged out for hand search. It took a little while to explain that an air pistol was a BB gun and the TSA girl insisted that the pistol should be in a locked hard case, I played dumb and said that my Samsonite was a hard case and that I didn't have the key to lock it as TSA normally insist on cases being unlocked. My pulse did go up slightly when they swabbed the pistol and put the swab into the machine for analysis (My attorney friend does a lot of reloading and such so his armory is full of pwder and the like) but to my surprise and relief it came out clear. Eventually my dumb act worked and my case was passed through security. Roll on one trans atlantic crossing later, about 18 hours as I always checkin in at 1345 for a 2100 flight to free me up to relax and eat with friends before turning up back at LAX for boarding, less stressfull that way.

    My first bag (my 'sports bag' which always contains one squash racket and then allows me a second free full bag allowance) came off the carousel very quickly, then the long wait set in for my Samsonite. After seeing the carousel go round at least twice with no new additions, it was off to the Virgin Desk. There was a guy in front of me whose bag had not made the flight and was creating merry hell, after he left I said to the pleasant but stressed girl 'I've got an easy one for you' having spotted my case behind her, complete with "Do NOT hand to passenger" label 'It's that one there' she then replied 'Oh I've been waiting for you Mr Gadget Meister, come with me' She led me trough into the red channel and I had visions of having to make calls to friends who are members of the LHR Firearms Unit. Sitting behind the desk, reading the Sun, was an elderly member of HMR&C Service who said 'What have you got there?'
    'A vintage Walther LP53' I replied
    'You sure it's an air pistol?' over his half moon reading glasses
    'Yep, sure am'
    And without even opening my case, he returned to his newspaper and said 'Off you go then'
    'Thank you very much' was the only thing I could think to say and hurried out of the hall.

    I swear the above is all true, sorry for the slight thread hijack, just thought it was worth mentioning should anyone else want to do the same thing. B-)

    Here's a very useful link with regards the process of exporting arms and parts etc out of the USA.

    We got 9/11 to thank for this;

    Hi all sorry its been a few months since i have had a chance to look at AJB,
    Had to post this again

    silencer custom made from ally and 9 mm curve mag made from solid billet of ally the exact size and details taken from a real 9mm ump and the very helpful people at h&k sent some great photos on request,

    very solid and clips in and out like the real thing, add quite a lot of weight to the AEG air-soft gun
