I only ask as , a long time ago, in a galaxy ..............................................

I was a member of " The james Bond international Fan Club " membership # 00101
( didn't quite make it into the first 100 members )
where I did an "O" level in Bond, having to set aside 45 mins I sat in my kitchen
and did my Best.
Now I didn't do as well as I'd hoped "C+" Although I'm still happy to have it. A
novelty yes But I am proud to have it. :))
Anyother members of TJBIFC around on AJB and did they take the test ?
If so how did you do ?

    :o

    I was a member of that! 00235 at your service! -{

    Don't remember a test. I do remember applying to join, thinking I had to impress them I was a Bond fan, writing all the films I'd seen, thinking, hey, they won't take just anyone. Didn't quite get how fan clubs worked back then, it's basically, hand over your money... :D

    Something like a fiver for a year, if I recall. Joined in the run-up to OP and NSNA.

    I imagine they had lots of more adult members who knew all the Connery films from back in the day.

    :)) ice to meet a fellow member of the service. :))

    Can't remember the yearly fees, still have all the old Fan mags etc, I even had a couple of
    letters printed in the readers section. But can't remember when but I lost some interest
    in Bond so didn't renew. (Might of been around the time of LTK.)
    Althought those old mags have some great articles in them, I must dig them out of the
    Attic sometime. -{

    I was a member of the JBIFC. Don't remember my membership number or a test. Pretty sure I have my issues of "OO7" magazine in a trunk somewhere in my basement. I was also a member of the James Bond 007 Fan Club, an American outfit which published "Bondage" magazine. This was definitely in the early 1980s -- I always associate these clubs with my first two years of college in upstate New York, far away from my home in California. Believe it or not, I actually had a penpal that I found through the "Bondage" classified ads -- a guy in Kentucky. Sounds a little weird now, but we had impassioned debates on the merits of the Bond films via snail mail. Prepped me to become an AJB contributor, I suppose. Who knows -- maybe he is also one of us!

    Thanks TP for the blast of nostalgia! {[]

    I was a member of the James Bond 007 Fan Club - it wasn't International when I joined :))

    You were higher up the pecking order than I though, Thunderpussy...my number was 00/1641 - I still have the original membership card (with photo) in my wallet - I still have the 'Gold Card' membership card they issued later too ;% :))

    That test must have been way before my time...

    Sorry guys, It was The James Bond Brirish Fan Club, Had a quick look at
    an Old copy of the 007 mag. I'll put the name foul up down to my Old
    age. ;% I still have some Badges and pencils, even one of my old
    Membership cards.
    But as a Kid it was great to have someone to share thoughs with on all
    things Bond, as In my local area I was the Only one.
    Kids today don't know how lucky they are with the Internet and forums
    like AJB.
    I think due to the high cost of printing the Mag was published online to
    be downloaded by members But I'd left by that stage. I think I've got a
    few cassettes from a couple of conventions, I must give them another
    play, Ah Nostalgia ain't what it used to be. :))

    I was a member of the JBBFC too. Only went to one social gathering, a showing of YOU ONLY LIVE TWICE & ON HER MAJESTY'S SECRET SERVICE at the NFT in the early '90s. Went with a mate who only wanted to see the films & had no interested in Ken Wallis' Little Nellie anecdotes afterwards. Got on a fellow fan's nerves when I stepped on his feet trying to skulk out of the auditorium.

    I renewed my membership of the JBBFC back in 1999. I made the huge mistake of showing my then girlfriend the gold membership card they sent me. She laughed me out of the room! Despite keeping a low profile on the subject we parted a few months later. :(
