Who do you imagine as Felix Leiter

ThunderpussyThunderpussy Behind you !Posts: 63,792MI6 Agent
I know we all imagine either ourselves or our favourite actor as Bond in the Novels. So I
was wondering who do you imagine as Felix?. I nearly always (given Fleming's description )
Think of a young William Shatner.

I will always imagine David Hedison as Felix Leiter. Live And Let Die was my introduction to Bond, and Leiter. Hedison seemed so natural in the role, therefore I was delighted when he eventually returned in Licence To Kill. In his work I have seen to date, I've always been impressed by him as an actor. He has a good range/screen presence and nothing ever appears forced or fake. I'd say he is underrated.

I would like to see Barry Pepper or Alan Tudyk play Felix.

Alan Tudyk is born in -texas and they are both allways good in movies.

Didn't Fleming describe Leiter as having ginger hair? It's been too long since I read the novels. The Leiter that I imagine is as Fleming described him.

I agree, however, that David Hedison was the actor who played the best Leiter.

I think my candidates are good because they resemble Felix in the books fairly well and are very good and interesting character actors. Barry Pepper is perhaps best remembered as the sniper i Saving Private Ryan and the Border Guardsman in The three burials of Garcia Marquez. Alan Tudyk probably as the pilot Wash in Firefly /Serenity and a lot of minor roles in movies.

Jeremy Renner would make a good Felix, although I wish Jeffrey Wright had been given more to do.

Wouldn't he be too close to DC in terms of overall looks, build, height etc ?

    Yeah, I think so.

    My pick:

Though I'm not a great fan of the actor.

    More realistically:

    Paul Rudd.

Of course, if it were the 1960s, we could all have our choice, in consecutive movies!

Jeremy Renner is a far too big star now. The right level of fame is someone who is a respected character actor from TV and film, but not a movie star. Jeffrey Wright is at that level, so are the two actors I mentioned.
  • BlackleiterBlackleiter Washington, DCPosts: 5,615MI6 Agent
I agree that Renner is probably too big for the role now and, as Zap points out, his look is pretty similar to Craig's. So let's try again - how about William Peterson of CSI fame?

I think Billy Pepper is a great fit and an inspired choice Number24! I really liked him in *61 and he fits Fleming's description as well. I like the way Jeffrey Wright portrays Leiter but it is a shame he didn't get much screen time in CR and QOS and the friendship that develops between 007 and Leiter isn't worked out at all. It's a shame Jeffrey Wright isn't in Skyfall.

When reading the novels I picture Leiter like Fleming describes him.

He's too old now, but I always thought Matthew Modine (circa Married to the Mob) would have made a good Felix. He seemed to have that casual lankiness I associate with the character as described by Fleming. At one point, I think Bill Pullman would have been a decent choice.

I think Jeffrey Wright is a great actor, and agree with those who wish he was given more to do with the character.

    Thanks Peppermill! :)

Jim Caviezel simply looks to much like Bond and too little like Felix Leiter. He is also too famous. If you have starred in a major motion picture youare also probably too famous to play Leiter. William Pettersen might work. Manhunter was a very good movie, but it is old now.

I think Geffery Wright makes a great Leiter, Although my original question was on who
do you imagine as Leiter when reading the novels. :)) Although I do think it is a
pitty he's not in Skyfall. I'd of loved to see him and Bond fighting together in a big
action sequence, Showing Leiter as basically the American Bond, his equal, and not
    just a CIA contact.

He's about 9ft tall or something isn't he? Also he looks very much like a traditional Bond (am I right in thinking that was considered but not tested?)

I guess I was theonewho started the dowward slide into "who should play Leiter after Geoffrey Wright?". Sorry. I like Wright in the part and I like theway he is portrayed. I don`t agree he sould be the American Bond. I think Felix Leiter should remain a more realistic agent, Bond`s contact in the CIA.

He looks too much like Craig IMO. Just a bit chubbier in the face.

Stick with Jeffrey Wright. It'd be nice to have some Leiter continuity.
