Golden Gun questions

I recently bought an FE GG and I noticed something that doesn't exactly make sense to me. I noticed from watching the film that when Scaramanga is engaging the bottom of the cigarette lighter into the top of the cigarette case he slides it backwards and the rear of it to an upward angle whereas on our replicas it slides forward, why did he do this in the film in Hai Fat's office?
Also while I haven't had any real issues with the gun so far, if I should see any tarnish how would I go about removing it without damaging the gold plating? Also, I don't know for sure but I've been under the impression that everytime the gun is assembled/disassembled it could wear down the threads/metal, is this at all true and if so what could be used to protect these areas?
And specifically to FE, IMHO you guys have done an amazing job.

For cleaning your golden gun I'd say a fine lint free cloth, DO NOT use paper towels, toilet paper or J cloths. Go for as soft a cloth as you can find.
The plating is extremely thin and soft so take great care. I personally dont handle mine with bare hands. Get on ebay, order some cotton gloves. Acids in your sweat will leave marks, wiping it simply spreads the acids about. My golden gun has never touched bare hands.
As for the threads, they are delicate and soft. Be careful. I put my golden gun together and have never taken it apart since. It's not a toy. There's no way of protecting the threads and slides, other than reducing the amount they're worked.
