Since I was a kid I absolutely adored Moonraker music. Flight Into Space probably sounds less Bond than Serra's score, but what an amazing piece.
My favorite parts are bombastic Barry themes: 007, Underwater Mayhem, Dawn Raid on Fort Knox, Opening Titles on FRWL, Capsule in Space, 007 and Counting, A Drop in the Ocean, OHMSS theme.
DAF and YOLT gunbarrels are the best. They sound so beefy. I think is low brass or maybe something else. Barry's scores of Connery era has absolutely the best arrangements. They don't use those instruments these days unfortunately. GoldenEye and David Arnold's gunbarrels are also cool.
I don't disagree with any particular part.
And welcome!
Definitely Tomorrow Never Dies, it was the first Bond score i ever got and remains my favorite. as someone posted earlier, its the perfect blend of the classic Bond sound with modern elements, where as all of Arnolds later scores just relied too much on techno beats, in TNDs it just drives the action without overtaking the orchestra.

It is my favourite non-Barry score, certainly.
On the flipside, a non-Barry score that I expected to really like (Since I *love* all the composer's other work) fell quite short for me- LTK. I feel that Michael Kamen took the assignment for a paycheck, mainly. His work seemed uninspired, and unnecessarily interpretative without being particularly original. Not that it was bad, just *meh* for someone capable of so much more...
Licence To Kill had the best gunbarrel music imo, right away you knew this was a different kind of Bond movie just buy the gunbarell music.
I think it's good for what it is, but I just missed John Barry on this movie so much. The only non-Barry scores I've REALLY liked from this series so far have been provided by David Arnold...
My favourite is Licence To Kill. Also love The Living Daylights, Live and Let Die, OHMSS and A View To A Kill. My least favourite by far is For Your Eyes Only.
Rat, you and I are of the same mind here. I can't even watch FYEO because of the awful Conti score. A shame, as it's not such a terrible movie otherwise...

I just watched it tonight and realised how much it sticks out like a sore thumb. There is so much potential in FYEO and for the most part it gets it right, but the music is just awful. Having said that there is one piece I think called "Take Me Home" which is nice.
Bill Conti's For Your Eyes Only score certainly is different. Most of the tracks are pretty forgettable. But there are some good 'uns, such as the title song, the instrumental version, and Run Them Down/The Climb. And not forgetting Make It Last All Night. That is probably the best porn song of all time, check the lyrics. Love it )

I don't know abour a Porn song, In the Thunderpusy household
we used to get round the old Piano at christmas to sing it. "Oh, who can you feel inside you "

My definite favourite soundtrack is The Living Daylights because Barry blends horns with synthesizers, which sounds fresh and surprisingly great. The title song and Where Has Everybody Gone? are great songs. My favourite cues from the film are Hercules Takes Off and "Assassin" and Drugged. Other great ones are Inflight Fight, Mujahadin and Opium, Ice Chase, Necros Attacks, and Afghanistan Plan.
On Her Majesty's Secret Service is another fantastic soundtrack by Barry. The title track, We Have All the Love in the World, Gumbold's Safe, and Bond and Draco are my favourites; however, the entire soundtrack is class, with the exception of Do You Know How Christmas Trees Are Grown.
Other favourite soundtrack's include:
3) A View to a Kill
4) You Only Live Twice
5) For Your Eyes Only
6) Moonraker
7) Thunderball
I was born way, way after Connery stopped playing Bond. In fact I'm the same age as A View to A Kill. I don't care for lounge or big band style music. In the words of Joan Jett, I love Rock N Roll. lol.
I share the same view Jamesbond007571985! And much like you I actually rather like Moonraker and Goldeneye even if they aren't classed as Rock. My favourite would have to be Licence to Kill and the closing credits song 'If you asked me to' by Patti Labelle. In fact I would say the whole soundtrack to LTK is top class!
Here's a poser for all. What's your favourite gunbarrel logo Bond theme arrangement? I'd go for THE MAN WITH THE GOLDEN GUN. I like the integration of strings & percussion. DIAMONDS ARE FOREVER would be second with its vibrant electric guitar. I suppose I like this John Barry period best as he was moving away from his jazz leanings into slower instrumentals. The two styles fuse well. Thirdly would be THE LIVING DAYLIGHTS with ON HER MAJESTY'S SECRET SERVICE coming in fourth. To round off, fifth place would probably go to MOONRAKER.
My favorite could be a random choice of any of the soundtracks from From Russia, With Love to On Her Majesty's Secret Service. All five of them are excellent.
I've never actually thought about the soundtracks before oddly enough. Here's my take on all of them:
DN - Not the best really
FRWL - Can't remember much about it
GF - Love the miami theme, and love the fort knox raid theme
TB - Good score
YOLT - Good
OHMSS - Good
DAF - Can't remember it
LALD - Love it
TMWTGG - Quite good
TSWLM - OK but not a favourite
MR - Pretty decent
FYEO - Different and enjoyable
OP - Great
AVTAK - Brilliant
TLD - Superb
LTK - OKish
GE - I like it, it's different
TND - Not my cup of tea
TWINE - Not my cup of tea
DAD - Can't remember much
CR - Can't remember much
QOS - Can't remember much
SF - It was ok, some decent enough bits
For Barry scores (all classics) my favorites are Living Daylights (what a way to go out) and OHMSS (unbelievably brilliant work). Thunderball closely follows behind with YOLT.
For the replacement composers, I love George Martin's work on LALD (really captures the black vibe they've got going in that movie for some reason), Bill Conti's work on FYEO (terribly dated but very distinctive and memorable) and even the much maligned Goldeneye from Eric Serra (it fit the movie). Marvin Hamlisch did some wonderful work on TSWLM (Bond 77 and the Pyramids come to mind) but his work wasn't quite as good as the other 'replacements'.
The ones I absolutely hated (disgraces) were The World is Not Enough and Die Another Day. Shameful scores that mirrored the overall incompetence of the movies - thank god the producers realized something was going terribly wrong during this time and rebooted.
