Songs that would have been great as Bond Themes

Out of curiosity what songs do you think would have been great as Bond themes?

Ive always thought the song "Nowhere to Run" from The Warriors movie would have been better as a Bond theme, particulary the Moore era

All Mine by Portishead. To the mind the best Bond theme never used.

Composed by JB, sung by Dame Shirley- it's got the right credentials!

Muse's Megalomania has always been something of a lost 007esque track. Something about the chord changes and the slow build of the track is very Bondian.

I still have hopes that Muse may contribute to the series at some point.

Bloc Party could do a great Bond song IMHO. But I would have loved to have heard the song by Shirley Bassey in QoS.

"Elevation" by U2 would have worked better as a Bond theme.

"Elevation" by U2 would have worked better as a Bond theme.

I don't think elevation, but rather "hold me, thrill me, kiss me, kill me" by U2 (used for the batman forever soundtrack) would have worked

Ha i like it... if connery did another Bond film it would be called "my love has two faces"... I quite like shut your eyes by Snow Patrol... i think it would suit Craig or Brosnan... maybe a new Bond title, Shut your eyes

here we are- I could almost picture at the start where a union jack parachute would pop out or a loud gunshot is fired as Bond has shot someone, the camera zooms into Craig's eye as the title sequence starts

"Cry Little Sister" by Gerald Mcmann would be perfect for the last Bond adventure ever, it would be a fitting swan song for 007. I could picture this song being used during a scene where Bond is gearing up for the last time.

Muse's Supremacy was rumoured to be a contender for Skyfall. Whilst it certainly does not sound like classic Bond in the style of Adele, there's definite Bondian elements to it. I like it.

The scent smoke and sweat of a casino are nauseating at three in the morning. Then the soul-erosion produced by high gambling - a compost of greed and fear and nervous tension - becomes unbearable and the senses awake and revolt from it.

"Feeling Good" - the Michael Buble version sounds incredibly Bondian to me,

Apologies, I don't think it works on mobile devices, unfortunately.

Here's another one but I don't think this works on mobiles either,

But if you look it up on Youtube just try Buble feeling good (just not the karaoke version!) :))

Ok, heard it now- that's always been a great song, and Buble does an excellent version (and whoever did the arrangement) but there's no way that the Bond people would use an existing song, however good.

Muse would be great. I'm with you on the base line - particularly the chris Cornell "You know my name".

Big Bowie fan, he'd have been great to do a Moore if they hadn't went in the rather silly direction they did.
  • BarbelBarbel ScotlandPosts: 37,856Chief of Staff
Agreed, Bowie would have been a great choice. I know he turned down the chance to ACT in a Bond film, though, so he may not have been keen to sing in one either.
