Top Ten Bond Movie Posters

What are your favourite Bond posters? Mine are:-

1. Live & Let Die
2. On Her Majesty's Secret Service
3. You Only Live Twice
4. Thunderball
5. Diamonds Are Forever
6. The Man With The Golden Gun
7. Moonraker
8. For Your Eyes Only
9. The Living Daylights
10. The Spy Who Loved Me

As you can see I favour old-style artwork where action & incident positively explodes out at you. The current crop are, quite frankly, rubbish by comparison.

Agree all modern movie posters are Crap, many are just a single still from the film and what's
this obsession with stark B&W posters.

I think many of the old artwork posters acted almost as Trailers for the Movie with LALD being
a fantastic poster, makes you want and watch it every time you see it.

So true. A sense of pride was prevalent in those old posters. As you say, like trailers they told you exactly what to expect. Now it's just the image of the lead actor & that's it. The Brosnan era made an attempt at rekindling the old magic but photographs are easy. I'd like to have seen Brosnan painted & would love to see the return of the gunhand across the chest pose. CASINO ROYALE's a terrific film but the poster doesn't do it justice & I remember wondering whether Cubby Broccoli had gone bankrupt when I saw the pitiful excuse for a poster that was LICENCE TO KILL.

But modern posters reflect the modern trend, where they are based around the actor who will be doing the promotional circuit, and it started with Brozzer, along with some awful BMW product placement.

My faves are similar, LALD is out front, then maybe YOLT or MR, then Dr No. Golden Gun would be good if it were a better film, but both film and poster is a copy of LALD. TSWLM ought to be good, and is, but is a bit stylised and hard to make out.a

TWINE was the last poster I like the look of, but I'm assuming we are talking about the same one, I mean there were different types of poster for each film. I hate the MR which includes scenes from the film on it.

I'm guessing we can't show any Bond posters, as it would annoy eon ?
As it would be great to put one up to discuss and compare.

My out-and-out favourite is the Italian "You Only Live Twice." Catching red with a classic portrait of Connery as Bond. Love it.

I must confess that I also like the 'naughty' "For Your Eyes Only" with the two legs and the bikini-bottom for sheer naughtiness. And finally, while I agree that it's rfare for a modern poster to approach anything that could ever be described even remotely as 'art', I really like to current 'Skyfall' 'Coming Soon' poster of DC in the gun barrel.

I love all the painted Bond posters. Top of the list would be Thunderball. There are so many great Bond posters. I don't have a top ten. I wanted to see what Jeff Marshall could do with Pierce Brosnan's films but he stopped with Licence to Kill.

You know...it probably would, but I'm not certain they would be THAT bothered either....it's really difficult to call....the best way around this would be to post a 'link' to the poster...that way we could click on the link and see it.... -{

The older one's are definitely the best one's! I think since the Dalton films they started to become more basic ...
I would have loved to see how the more recent movies would have looked in the style of the classic movie posters...
