Although many of us posted this before in the top 22 thread, here's my top 5 anyway:

    1. License to Kill
    2. Goldeneye
    3. Goldfinger
    4. Casino Royale
    5. The Spy Who Loved me

It's a coincidence that all major actors have a movie in my Top 5, and also a coincidence that there is a movie of every decade in it as well! I guess for me every decade had atleast one very good movie!

    3. Goldfinger
Funny, GF is great, and I feel DAF is equally as great (same director), the deciding factor between the two for me is the sheer elegance of the production.
And while I believe Thunderball is arguably the 'best' Connery Bond film, it just moves a little bit too slow for my taste to beat GF or DAF on this list.
Dalton & Connery rule. Brozz was cool.

BL, your list is a fairly 'serious' one- no great love for Dalton's take?

Hehe.. well I respect your opinion on that matter but DAF happens to be my least favorite movie in the franchise... :P
I think Goldfinger is iconic, classic and pretty much the quintessensial Bond film, the blue print of all Bond movies pretty much. DAF on the other hand, attempted to reproduce the succes of Goldfinger, but failed tremendously in my opinion. It features a bored Connery, a plot that could have been so much more. A Blofeld dressed as a lady (!) (THATS supposed to be the same menacing guy we first saw stroking that cat in FRWL! now HE is dressed as a lady.) Blofeld clones, a laser satalite so accurate that it can demolish submarine's from out of space. (Years before DAD very fake scene's where already present!) I'm sorry, I just rate it very low :)

My Top Five never change. They are:-

    1. On Her Majesty's Secret Service
    2. From Russia With Love
    3. Goldfinger
    4. Dr. No
    5. Thunderball

To me they represent all that is great about Bond, bearing the distinction of being sufficiently different from one another to never feel one is watching a retread. Everything that follows these five seems to liberally borrow from one or more of them in some form or another.

If I could be allowed a cheeky sixth choice it would be THE SPY WHO LOVED ME. This isn't a guilty pleasure. I've concluded I like it precisely because it unashamedly plunders past glories. Another member on this forum said that if they had to show a Bond film to an alien unaware of 007's world then this would be the one. I agree. GOLDFINGER sets the template for OTT Bondery but this one is probably the perfect summation of Bond glories in one neat package.

Actually I liked both Dalton entries, but my list reflects that fact that I'm such a big Connery fan. If I had a sixth and seventh pick, I would include OHMSS, then TLD.

Yeah, it was really good- definitely my favourite Craig film yet (Fleming purists will still say CR was his best no doubt). In fact, I *may* have to think about sliding it into my top 5...
Okay, so some of the CGI was obvious, and the bigger 'stunts' seemed to regress to Brosnan's movies, but Craig gave an easy, nearly flawless performance. He's clearly in the zone here...
    wait...
has this movie been released yet? :o

:)) What kind of a list is that? - Why a question mark on 4? Shoulnd't you just put FRWL up there automaticly? :p ... I do have a feeling though that Skyfall might have the potential to make it in a lot of people's top 5's!
