I am really surprised how much people on here don't appreciate Diamonds are forever (DAF getting the hang of it now)
But it goes to show the effect of the first Bond film you see
Diamons Are Forever is one of my, shall we say, "guilty pleasures". I enjoy watching it for entertainment, but to me anyway, it just isn't a good Bond film. I can certainly understand the effect of the first Bond film you see: mine was The Man With the Golden Gun which, frankly, isn't a very good Bond film at all. But I enjoy it; I find it "fun" to watch.
I'm not really much of a fan of DAF. But I do love the moon buggy chase, and the scene where bond climbs atop the Whytehouse - great scenes.
Worthy of Moore's Bond, eh? -{
I suppose it is yeah. Moore would have fit well. Although I still think I'd rank it the same with him in it. I dunno, DAF is a funny one... sometimes I like it and get great fun out of it, but other times I find it to be a very strange film... It's one that I need to be in the mood for I think.
Funny how people can watch the same scenes and have totally different reactions. While I also thought the climbing of the Whytehouse was a pretty terrific scene, I thought the moon buggy chase was one of the worst scenes in the movie. It seemed extremely silly, and what's worse is that it was slow-moving and boring.

I can understand why some would find the moon buggy chase silly, and I suppose it is a bit Roger Moore-esque too. But that could be why I like it so much I also found it iconic.
Good to hear that you enjoyed the whytehouse climbing scene, I found that scene very gripping.
I'm happy to see The Living Daylights on here so many times. I always thought that was such an underrated movie.
1: Casino Royale 2: Goldeneye 3: Skyfall 4: Octopussy 5: Goldfinger 6: Tomorrow Never Dies 7: The World Is Not Enough 8: The Living Daylights 9: From Russia With Love 10: The Spy Who Loved Me
I think the reason for DAD being up there is just because I find it so dang entertaining and never tire of watching it. I like 3,4 and 5 on your list a lot
....and the best he ever managed was a sermon on the mount.
I'm ashamed to say that I have only read 1 bond novel and that's LALD. I'm not much of a reader Maybe I need to get my arse in gear )
If you only read one more, THAT's the one to read IMHO. -{
I actually have them all in a boxset that someone once brought me as a gift. So maybe some day I'll sit down and read some. I'll keep MR in mind then. I've heard it's very different from the film
Casino Royale
GoldenEye
Quantum of Solace
Goldfinger
I must admit though I have only just started to get more into them, so I haven't actually seen very many. Not enough to feel confident enough about a fifth choice even though I have of course seen more than 5!
Movies: The Spy Who Loved Me. Actor: Pierce Brosnan. Theme: You Only Live Twice. :D
