Forster sped it up AND shook (not stirred) the photography.

This is still a real puzzler for me. Months before QoS came out, I interviewed both Forster and his excellent cinematographer Roberto Schaefer. Without even being asked about it, both of them (separately) mentioned how they wanted the opposite of the BOURNE look, and that Dan Bradley had been instructed very specifically to not repeat what he had done for those films.

Schaefer in particular was enormously critical of overcutting (which is the biggest crime I've seen in BOURNE, though to be fair I didn't stay awake all the way through the first one and have only managed about 15min of the 2nd one) ... so when I saw the film, I was perplexed by the ADD cutting in the extreme. I could imagine overcutting a scene where you have tons of VFX shots to keep the audience from tumbling to what you are doing (and there are LOTS of VFX shots in the first post-credits chase, pasting Craig into backgrounds shot a year earlier, probably contributed a lot to the film having 950 vfx shots, which is twice as many as either of the other craig movies), but I couldn't and still can't see why the film was cut that way almost all the way through.

Sorry for digression, but that sticks in my mind a lot.

Always found his work uninspired and lacking in flair. Very much an also ran for me.

Well, John Glen directed FYEO, OP, AVTAK, TLD, and LTK right? (Correct me if I'm wrong). And they are 5 pretty damn fine movies, 4 of which might just make up my top 4. So I say he's good.

Glen was (stop me if this is old) a workman-like director IMO. Simple, straightforward, direct & to the point. I liked his style (or lack thereof for some), and Bond works best with no flashy visual nonsense. Suffice it to say, the 21st Century has not been an outstanding Bondian time for me.
    But, things change. :))
