Bond Actor's Opinions On The Bond Films

JarvioJarvio EnglandPosts: 4,241MI6 Agent
This thread is basically for what each bond actor thought to certain bond films. Do we know their opinions on them? From interviews and whatnot?

Here's what I once read:

Sean Connery "hated" Moonraker.

Roger Moore thinks that "Die Another Day" went too far (even coming from, quote, "me, the first bond in space").

Roger Moore's least favourite bond film out of the ones he starred in was "A View To A Kill".

Does anyone else know any more?

Roger has rarely been critical of anything but he really disliked the scenes where Max Zorin machine gunned the innocent mine workers. He felt the violence had gone too far and that was not what Bond was about.

He also called Quantum of Solace a long dis-jointed commercial.

Roger Moore seems to be the only Bond really expressing his opinion the most!

I have read that he thought Quantum of Solace had a to shaky camera, half of the time he couldn't tell what was going on.... I know he liked Casino Royale and that he praises Craig a lot. He also hoped that Skyfall was going to feature more humor, something he couldn't wait to see! :) (I read that in the Bond on Bond articile that Moore Than posted on this forum.)

Also, from what I've heared Brosnan and Lazenby weren't to keen of eachother. Brosnan kind of disliked George's performance and vice versa. (Don't quote me on this, I'm not a 100% of it's truth behind it..)

I'm think Dalton mainly liked the Connery movies although didn't believe anyone had portrayed the Bond from the books yet. (Which is true in a way.)

Further more, in terms of favorites, I know that Brosnan had a huge weakness for Goldfinger as that was his first Bond film he had ever seen. And some small well-known facts are that Roger's favorite one he did was TSWLM, and Connery's was FRWL..

Never knew about the Connery and Moonraker thing, but then again, I don't really know to much about his opinion on other Bond movies...

Connery didn't like the emphasis on gadgets after FROM RUSSIA WITH LOVE, nor the over-emphasis on humour in the Moore era which he felt served to dissipate tension.
Lazenby probably just wants to lynch Ronan O'Reilly. :)) And he doesn't seem keen on the new cold-killer approach.
Moore's stated on numerous occasions he couldn't take the concept of the character remotely seriously. He may be being a bit disingenuous to himself here as his performances suggest a more sincere approach than he may care to admit. He's also recently quoted as saying DIAMONDS ARE FOREVER is his favourite Bond of the lot. That'll endear him to many on this forum. :))
Dalton seemed more keen on the Bond of the books, though he's had good words to say about the film version of DR. NO.
GOLDENEYE excepted, Brosnan always seemed to slag off his previous film when promoting a new one - TOMORROW NEVER DIES had too much action, THE WORLD IS NOT ENOUGH made no sense. Lord knows what he'd have said about DIE ANOTHER DAY had he done a fifth film!
Craig's not said much about the previous films apart from LIVE & LET DIE being his first Bond experience. Maybe he likes that film for sentimental reasons.

They had a public spat a few years ago. George Lazenby stated in an interview that Pierce Brosnan was charisma free and feminine. Brosnan hit back saying Lazenby was an angry pissed off Aussie who didn't know how to show his feminine side.

I don't know if they still have the same opinion of each other or have settled their spat since then.
