Lack of any lining or finish inside is a joke for an expensive jacket.
To be fair, the Billy Reid website clearly states that the coat is unlined -- for the stated price of 695. Whether or not this is fair pricing is up to your opinion, but I don't understand why you are so disappointed when the product description on the website is accurate.
True it states that on the website so if people who have it are happy with it then fair enough. I have seen other unlined jackets but they seemed more "finished" if you know what I mean. Just giving my opinion. If You are happy with yours then good for you.
Add a lining that wasn't there in the screen-accurate jacket;
Reduced the previously established price that this jacket already was, without lining, before the film was made;
Sent you an email letting you know the complete specs of the $700 jacket for which you hurriedly clicked "buy" without doing any basic research?
Sorry for all the questions but as this forum turns into a full-on customer complaint/sizing inquiry catch-all, we need to collect as much data as possible.
Okay ideally I would like there to have been a lining in the jacket but realise this may not be screen accurate so would not have minded as extra option to have a lining even if this was extra cost then I would have been happy to pay.
Any more size testers? I'm 5'10" and 180lbs with a 42"chest. I wear a 40R suit (or 42S in Tom Ford) and am trying to decide on a medium or large BR peacoat.
Well, after looking at my pocket linings and leather trim, mine is black. I first looked quickly abd thought "yeah, dark brown" but after looking longer and comparing them to pics of my older issue brown one (which definitely had brown leather) mine is definitely a darker black with a cracked leather finish. Has a "matte" sheen to it whereas the stock pics and the my brown has a glossy finish. Just thought i would post because people have asked. I can post pics later if people want.
Its a kind of "murky" charcoal black which can look slightly brown but its definitely black and looks really nothing like the stock.
Petrol head I reckon you definitely need a size large IMHO as I am a 40 and size M is very fitted. Mine has cracked black leather so again this is nothing like the pics but I actually don't mind as more likely to wear it with black than brown shoes.

Yeah mines exactly the same kind if really wanted the brown as it was in photos

I bought two of them and have the same problem, it is cracked and not the same brow that was pictured, should we ask B.R. if they can fix it for us?

I'd be intrested as did want the brown I emailed graham and said its the same leather they used ?
Just wondering, have any of you returned your coats because the leather accents aren't brown? I am looking forward to having brown leather accents, and I'm not sure what I will do if mine turns out to be black when it arrives.
I'd think black leather would go better with the on screen clothing used. Personally I'd rather have black leather when I order mine. Just my two cents though.
yeah I'm definitely hoping mine is brown whenever it arrives. The brown leather in the pics is amazing. Above all though the brown creates a contrast or an accent if you will which is part of what made this coat special. The way you guys describe the black it seems as though it will blend in too much with the navy wool, and it basically takes this feature of a contrasting accent away.

I agree. Black leather trim would go better with the rest of the black clothing in the outfit (tie, jumper and boots). But since peacoats are casual coats I've always worn mine with brown shoes/boots and non-black jumpers. I save black for dressing up.

Hopefully we can get an answer on this.
I've got mine and has black and yeah it blends in much more and was hoping for brown as adds that contrast, not sure what to do, Ryan
The cynic in me suggests that this has the over tones of a supplier rushing to get the orders fulfilled and compromising on the detail. I would be concerned with the overall QC of the latest garments coming through in particular the quality and true of the seams and stiching. Has the production been compromised anywhere else for speed? What's the overall feel of the cloth? And the horn buttons? Same or different? Just my 30 cents worth...

+1 Much prefer it to the brown...although I'm not sure I'd call the leather 'black'. Tbh it's one of those colours you look at and can't identify )
Anyone had any updates when the originals will be sent out. This is taking far too long and starting to taste a bit sour, which is such a shame.
I take it you've never had a bespoke suit or shirt made. I'm used to waiting 6 months for clothes. I've ordered some shirts from the ultimate James Bond shirtmaker, Frank Foster, and 5 months later I'm still waiting for the first test shirt. But I'm not complaining. I know it will be well worth the wait.

Matt has reply emailed 3 times stating mine is at the facility to be shipped, but still not on its way according to the order in my account
Given this, the time from paying, the delay, the quality issues, the not now so limited edition.......
Just hoping its eventual arrival will wipe the sour taste away.....
Would be nice to hear something from Grahame, we did hear a lot from him during the build up to the will they / won't they threads......

As for quality, everything is the same when compared to my brown one that was released way before all this. buttons, cloth, stitching all top quality.
Mines even darker than this as you said the actual quality is great but really was looking for that nice brown leather rather than black.
