Harry Rosen in Canada. I've been checking with Neiman Marcus and Bergdorf Goodman, and they dont have any and havent received any of these. I find it sooo odd that there is this (apparent) selective process from TF.

Good finds OTravel, keep up the good work

Thanks bud. As I've said before, I'll offer up any extras to the forum.

I found 2 QOS-era ties from Harry Rosen that were old stock on clearance, and 2 more QOS-era ties from the TF outlet.

Harry Rosen has the 2-tone blue similar to the green party tie.

Did you post a pic of those blue ones?

Not yet. It looks like the 2-tone version of the 3-tone SF tie.

    Price is $205 + tax at Rosen's.

Correction: Yes I did post a pic of it, on this page:

    http://www.ajb007.co.uk/topic/38901/tom-ford-skyfall-ties/page/12/

    It's definitely a two-tone blue, not purple.

    Good news and bad news.

Good news: found the Istanbul tie in 3 shades.

Bad news: the colours are blue, lavender and brown; no white!

I'll post pics to show the weaves. I'm going to check out a few more places.

How does the brown look like? The first pic looks like its got flash (seems orange to me), is it brown/black?
  • othertravelothertravel Posts: 438MI6 Agent
Definitely brown; the flash made it look orange.

Is it me, or does anyone else think the SF pattern doesnt look good in other colors but only white/black (PTS)?
  • othertravelothertravel Posts: 438MI6 Agent
I agree; the white/black is also more versatile than the colours above.

I personally find the white/black to be very boring. I know, blasphemy since Bond wore it, but it's the truth. I think the Sharkskin suit would've looked better with a linen shirt with the top button unbuttoned, no tie, and more screen time for the Marko sunglasses. So, that said, I'm not losing sleep over the fact it hasn't been found. If I find one, I'll trade it for the blue/black/grey tie though.

while I'm rambling about such things, I have a brown version of the final scene tie, and I think it looks much better with a charcoal suit than the grey/black tie does. Gives it more character and less monochromism....

I personally love the tie however on your other point the Markos etc it was indeed the time for him to wear them and he did not (maybe due to hopping on a motorbike!!??). I notice DC was wearing them offset during this scene.

I find him popping them on at Silvas Island lair quite bizarre - didnt seem natural. He went to the Casino the night before with them in his Tuxedo pockets????????

To each their own I guess...

And it would make even more sense because of the motorbike (keeping the wind out of his eyes).

That's always bothered me!!! Also, I would find someone wearing sunglasses inside of an airport at night much more suspicious than without.

    Then it's settled.

To save money on the budget of Bond 24, Eon chooses to accept a few AJB volunteers for the costume dept instead of having to hire somebody. :))

For the last tie, I'm still not completely convinced it's a 2-tone; even in HD it's hard to tell. I'm wondering if it's the grey/charcoal version of the 3-tone tie.
  • 96mn1296mn12 Posts: 632MI6 Agent
    its the two tone

At the very least the pattern is a different scale.

A sharkskin suit with a linen shirt and no tie? That's a classic business suit, not so casual. Perhaps a light grey fresco suit would be okay worn that way. A more casual summer suit, like the beige/tan linen suits Brosnan wore are great with open-neck shirt like how he wore them. The same goes for the blue linen suit in CR.

Monochromatism is a trademark of Bond dress that goes back to Connery, though he often did two colours with blues and greys. Better a blue or burgundy tie with a grey suit than brown.

I have an extra in this tie; It's DC at a Skyfall premiere.

My price is 150+shipping. It's 4' and can be narrowed.

    PM me if interested.

Though the colours are similar, that tie is a casual knitted tie and has a very different aesthetic from the Istanbul tie. That tie would look out of place with a suit. However, it would be perfect to go with an outfit like the one in Shanghai.

Has anyone bought one of these ties from Magnoli?
    http://www.magnoliclothiers.com/istanbu … p-501.html
    Is it good quality?

I have not bought Magnoli's Istanbul Tie but I do have a few of his others.
They are excellent quality! Better than the silk ties you find in the High Street Stores.
    I recommend them. :007)

I have bought all of magnoli's bond ties for CR, QOS and SF.

The Istanbul tie is one of the best out of them. Looks great and very nice quality and weight. I can't recommend enough.

Thank you Uncle27 and kadd for getting back to me, and kadd for posting the photo. It looks quite well done! How does it wear?

Don't want to get everybody's hopes up, but an inquiry has been made to TF's tie factory about a skyfall mto. Will keep you posted.

    Guys and girls,

I have just come off the phone with my contact at Tom Ford, and an inquiry is being placed.

I am putting an order for 10 ties for each style, the styles are:

    Istanbul

    London National Gallery

    Granborough Road

Now I need numbers, I already have some expressions of interest, which means at this moment there are 6 ties of each style on offer. I am open to accommodating further expressions of interest and will be reflected in any final order.

I am seeing what the costs are and the availability of the fabric, once this has been agreed then I will post the process.

If you're interested or have any q's e-mail or pm me.
    For England James?

Count me in for this! If you have a contact, you might have better luck than most of us in getting the ties.
