Just read a report that it doesn't. That only a couple of mobiles are 4G compatible...and the iphone 5 wasn't one of them...and how they may have shot themselves in the foot as it won't run 4GUK...guess time will tell...
I was expecting something mind-blowing and unique feature wise however I think the Smartphone has peaked at the moment with little new to offer, they seem to have done everything I guess

I read two broadsheets today that both stated the iphone5 didn't run 4GUK...and how it would/could impact on sales...
It runs 4G LTE, 4G (HSPA+), 3G, and more. And Apple claims it does it best (of course) by being way more efficient in combination with a big battery.
A6 processor in a new reduced size. The original Retina Display, now longer in a 16:9 Widescreen ratio.
Entirely glass and aluminum body with precision micron-accurate parts matching (the pieces are microscopically photographed and then matched with the best fit out of 725 pieces during manufacturing to create incredibly accurate glass/aluminum fittings).
Compared to iPhone 4S it is 18% thinner (making it the world's thinnest smart phone), 20% lighter, and 12% less total volume.
New camera with sapphire glass, smaller lenses with new adjustability for better low-light performance and 40% faster image captures. Panorama feature for up to 28MP shots and a proprietary echo removal software for a better final result than other panorama developers.
Lighting connecter replacing the 30-pin connector. All-digital, 8-pins, smaller, and best of all, reversible so there is no wrong way to plug it in.
Apple EarPods to replace the previous included headphones. Boasting high-quality improved sound and a better fitting shape.
FaceTime over cellular network with a new 720p HD front-facing camera.
Apple's new proprietary Maps software developed with vector graphics and 3D modeling capabilities.
New Siri commands including sports stats and scheduling, restaurant reservations, and movie times with reviews.
Passbook to organize your in-app cards, coupons, passes, tickets, and more without needing to open the individual apps. It recognizes time and location so it knows to offer you your boarding pass when you get to the airport, your Starbucks card when you approach your favorite location, or your movie ticket when the 9PM show is coming up.
Apple makes slick products and their OS is easy to use but I like flexibility in my devices and that word just isn't in Apple's vocabulary. They typically only provide one way to do things and the premium they charge for their products is pretty high relative to similar devices from other providers. You can't even put an animated wallpaper on the thing.
They did talk battery life. It gets a section of the new webpage, too.
Referring to a 4" screen as a down-sizing option doesn't make any sense. Bigger doesn't equal better when you are talking phones. To this day, many people don't buy the 4"-5" screen phones because they are often too big for many. I think it is smart on Apple's part to keep the width and go for widescreen 16:9 ratio. If you want bigger, go get it. But many people want the more average, and in my opinion, more appropriate 4" range in hand and pocket.
And Apple doesn't put a feature in until they think it will drive the sales forward. True 4G was hardly available in many locations back when iPhone 4S was launched, making it an unnecessary cost at the time that they felt would be best used to drive iPhone 5 sales instead.
Siri is considered by many comparisons to be arguably more accurate and comprehensive in language thanks to her use of her web database. When are you disconnected anyways? I can't even remember the last time there was no Wi-Fi or cellular service at the same time (and I'm certainly not inconsiderate enough to be using Siri commands on an airplane).
And I guess you missed the memo on flash, but it was announced months ago that Adobe intended to discontinue the service, making way for HTML5 (just as Steve Jobs publicly predicted). Not sure what the problem is with Apple moving to a new proprietary connector, which appears to be superior in design to mini-USB (there's no wrong way to plug it in). They used the previous model for nearly a decade. I'm sure you were able to keep some of your Apple cables longer than mini-USB has been standard. The iPhone is the only device I have that requires the proprietary cable, and seeing as it includes one, I can't imagine you really could rack up huge costs on that like people wish to imply. How many extras do you need? One or two would do the trick for years to come.
And sure they lag behind on some features, but if they are such important features, it wouldn't be the most memorable and best-selling phone lineup of all time. The features they most often leave out are either not well-developed or established for the public yet (like LTE, which is still marked on maps with dots instead of shading because it is still in its early phases even now) that people generally don't seem to find that worthy of complaining about as they line up for iPhones.
Maybe part of why I just like Apple is that I'm not asking for a bargain to meet halfway with great design. Apple works for me, and I'm sticking with it.
But don't forget, your charger, docking system and any accessories you have won't work for the new phone.
Funnily enough, you have to buy it all over again!

I have my beef with Ive's design philosophie.
If you are selling 3 millin Macbooks a year, it may be a good thing to improve the design always a little step into perfection.
If you want to sell 200 million Smartphone, that does not work imo.
The Smartphone market changes so fast, the people want new design. The iPhone 5 is virtually the design that goes now into the 3rd year. I have been recently in HK and if you travel by Subway there, 80% of all the people there are using an iPhone4.
If you want to succeed in this kind of business, your new products must be visually different.
Such as the first iPhone was compared to all other phones, such as the 3G was compared to the 1st one and such as the 4 was compared to the 3G.
If you see the iPhone sales, the 4S was a very good seller but other companies grow faster. I could imagine that if Apple would have dramatically changed the Design for the 4S and for the 5 they would be much more successful.
Take myself: I purchased the Macbook Retina just because it is so cool. I already have a Notebook, I virtually don't need another one but I like the Retina.
I am still having my iPhone 4, was really ready to buy a new one 1 year ago, but haven't.
The iPhone 5 leaves me cold and I'll stick with my iPhone4.
I even consider buying the Lumia 920 because it looks really cool in black and so much different to the iPhone.

I don't use many accessories besides the charging dock, and people seem to forget that they kept the first style of connector for nearly a decade. It's not like every few years Apple has changed it. This is the first change since iPod was born.
I'll gladly upgrade my dock and buy an extra cable. I really don't find this change unreasonable at all, especially since I like the design of it.
As for the law, they are required to provide a way for it to work with universal cables, but they are not required to put that port on their devices. They basically just need to make an adapter available for mini-USB, which they have for the old connector already in Europe. The US has no such laws.
First off, with contracts being 2 years in many places and the US where they design it, a lot of people appreciate that no matter whether you are on the numbered models because of how your contract lines up (3G to 4S, 4 to 5) or you are on the S models because of your every-other-model upgrade allowance, you will be able to get in on the design cycle and not miss out.
Considering that iPhone is the most memorable name in phones ever, and that it is the best selling line of phones ever (even the around 100 or more Android phones, which all came out after iPhone, can't claim a single model or line as praised or popular as each and every iPhone has been), I think Apple is dead on with how they want to sell it. They under crowd the iOS market because they own it, and that leaves the demand always high until right around when the next model is coming and pressure builds to explosive launches.
Apple doesn't want to sell 200 million smartphones, they want to sell as much of the greatest smartphone they can. Android may come from the perspective of saturating the market far and wide, giving the Android name to anyone and everyone whether they want to make a cheap bargain phone or one of the many high-end phones that have failed to reach even close to the success of any one of the iPhone models. Apple is a brand and a name that is far better preserved than Android in my opinion.
Just 5 models released to date and they are the most customer satisfied, best-selling phones ever. Who cares that Android has the market lead when it took them dozens and dozens and dozens of models to get there spread thin with support and consistency issues in the OS due to the over expansion, all after everyone saw the iPhone that caused Android to go touchscreen in the first place? Android is a fragmented market, no matter what collective feat it would like to lay claim to.
And I'm highly confused as to how you don't feel the hardware is different. It is very visibly different to me. The back is mostly flat metal now, being a slate aluminum on the black model and a bright silver on the white. It is clearly longer and thinner. Yes, it looks like it spawned from the 4S, but in no way do I think it doesn't fully count as a hardware redesign that we come to expect every other model now.
I can't quite imagine a better body for my own tastes. I think the glass/aluminum design is gorgeous (the iPhone 4/4S body is my favorite hardware design ever, like a solid slate of weighty glass in the hand with a stainless rim. So solid and flat when you tap on it compared to all the other Android phones I've touched, even previous iPhones.)
Apple updates just enough and just often enough that almost no one thinks it is too far behind to buy and no one feels like they keep getting run over by fast major updates in the market. On Android, you've got about 4 months before your phone gets replaced by a superior Android, max. With iPhone, you've got about a year, and you won't even be mad at Apple because the updates are always pretty reasonable jumps.
But this is largely opinion.
Basically, the success of iPhone proves that Apple knows what they are doing, and I'm on board gladly.
iPhone 5 looks like a great smartphone but it doesn't justify upgrading from a 4S for me personally, I don't watch movies on my phone etc so although the extra screen size is nice, it's not a must for me!!
Bondtoys - would love to hear your thoughts on the Retina MacBook. I've been very tempted - love my MacBook Air however been spoilt by my iPad and iPhone Retinas
I've had 3 Home Buttons fail on me since the 1st gen (I've had every gen iPhone)
That is because technology moves so fast that your mobile could be updated for a better version in 4 months...exactly the same for Apple, no difference at all...but Apple are the only players in 'their' market so they can dictate to you exactly what they want - and you have to stick that....you don't get a choice....sounds fair to me
If you like your Apple stuff - good for you...I have an ipod and an itouch....and they are fantastic bits of kit...just never been over happy with the iphones....
All of Apples products are overpriced...but they really know how to market a product and to get you to NEED it...they even deliberately hold back on certain features just so they can sell you an update in a years time...the ipad is a perfect example of this...but you have to give them credit for that...
And earlier the BBC ran a piece on how the iphone5 will NOT be able to run 4GUK...but they have since changed this as it can now (only) run on the 4GUK of EE...so that's a start I suppose
I really like the Retina a lot. However with most applications you don't see differences for the moments - unless you are working with pics. Then the display is breathtaking!

Besides the first one, which is basically a slimmed iPod Touch mockup, those totally don't look Apple to me. But again, its opinion.
It's only overpriced if you completely discount what a brand is. Nobody tells Burberry they are overpriced because we know what a name and a design means when it gets down to pricing. Apple has built a name and brand like any designer, regardless of material cost.
And yes, Apple works for me and not for everyone, so its fine if not everyone enjoys them and their update system, but I think it is great timing.

I believe Siri can also be disabled by changing the activation setting on it.
Google apps are no longer being licensed for Apple products because, first and foremost, Apple doesn't want to rely on Google. Secondly, the apps were not being kept up and Google maps was going un-updated for years. Third, Apple has designed a beautiful Maps app of their own, which they've supposedly spent tons on making with its 3D modeling. And lastly, Google already agreed to make App store apps for YouTube and Google Maps that they will keep up with better from now on.

And I wasn't on about Siri, I meant 'voice control'. It took me 4hrs to turn it off after accidentally turning it on, but you can't disable it completely to avoid this.

Go to the Settings Icon (Looks like gears) and press it.Scroll down to General, press it. Scroll down to Keyboard, press it. You should see several options. Auto correction should be the second one down. Turn to off.
