It's only overpriced if you completely discount what a brand is. Nobody tells Burberry they are overpriced because we know what a name and a design means when it gets down to pricing. Apple has built a name and brand like any designer, regardless of material cost.
And yes, Apple works for me and not for everyone, so its fine if not everyone enjoys them and their update system, but I think it is great timing.
Bad comparison choice there...the public told Burberry that they were overpriced by not buying their goods and Burberry have had some real tough years...they dropped their prices quite markedly and so became the 'Chav's' choice of apparel and the company nearly went under because of that link....it was only when they returned to their more 'classic' designs - and put the price back up - did they fully recover...there is a little back street sweatshop not too far from from me that makes Burberry coats...if you are cheeky and catch them in a good mood, you can pick one up off them for next to nothing...perhaps that is their 'true worth'...?...not only that...the mark up on clothes is staggering !! Clothes are made very cheaply....again...not the best comparison choice if you are trying to say that Apple offer value for money
I obviously won't change your mind about Apple - and believe me, I'm really not trying too...no company is in business for the love of it...but don't fool yourself that Apple are a 'cool' company and that you will look 'cool' by buying their stuff....

That is what I like. My first iPod accidentally went through the washing machine. Few hours in the airing cupboard and it was perfectly fine. Don't know if my iPod Touch or iPhone would stand the same chances, but I've never forgotten what my iPod managed to live through )

Probably was a bad comparison then, but I meant it more along the lines that a rise to success and fame as a brand does not require them to keep premium charges low. The money Apple charges over what they could charge is obviously intentional to associate their great designs and quality with a higher cash value.

My brother's iPhone survived a swim in the pool and some falls. They generally are still fantastic in terms of fit and operation.

Reviews don't come from us Apple nuts though. And full reviews don't come until the phone releases. So far, the only reviews are from the brief hands-on sessions. They don't love them like we love them.
And its also pretty personal. For many people, every single model is worth getting. For me, every single body change is worth getting (This new body changes the experience a lot to me on looks and screen alone, but new microphones, processor, speakers, cameras, and 4G LTE make it worthwhile more so). In combination with a snappy running iOS 6, I'm thrilled to get my hands on it. I'm gladly taking the plunge since my last upgrade has left me Siri-less on a 4 for a while now, which has been a favorite anyways.
And apparently the demand for iPhone 5 has been massive. The first shipment for launch day sold out shortly after I ordered. Its expected to be the best-selling phone model of all time, and analysts say even possibly the best-selling gadget of all time with how unexpectedly hot the pre-orders are.

Burberry is a bad comparison, their stuff is overpriced. Most of their 1000$ trench coats are made in Hong Kong. People who truly have class don't buy Burberry, they buy Aquascutum or Mac or Barbour and the like.
As for Apple, they're wise because they're making lots of new versions with basically no improvements, they make huge profits, and the day when people will be tired they will start making significantly better products.

I'll admit I haven't paid close attention to Burberry's recent reputation other than hearing a few acquaintances mention they were fans of the brand still. As far as I understand, the London brand and up, are still almost entirely made in the UK.
But anyways, perhaps incorrectly, I was thinking that they were at one point lovingly revered as a quintessentially British house romantically famed around the world for the lucky Hollywood film wearers and jetsetting London musicians?
Or at least, I thought at some point they were a good example where they hit a stride of being one of those things in pop culture that is just fun to spot and doesn't really cause too much questioning of price vs. materials because it is all about the name and design and how it has fit in, rather than how much a computer OS or a yard of cotton is worth and such.
I sort of got the impression that all of those classic designer names are intensely factory produced anyways now. Louis Vuitton, Hermes, Prada, Burberry, Armani, Gucci, and more. None of them could stand to be the small, revered houses from faraway cities and instead sold out to large companies who bought into factories. They all insisted on growth until they couldn't feasibly hit their numbers and expansion without losing their traditions.

Hermes actually makes EVERYTHING in France and they have the best standards. Look at the annual report if you're interested. That's one of the only companies you can trust. Their buildings are super eco-friendly, etc.
But when you want quality, you're often better off with smaller brands, yes.

My knowledge is iffy on the fashion houses then. I knew that to be true of Hermes not long ago, so I'm glad to hear it is still so. They were, and I'd assume still are, well-praised for their stricter requirements of continuing to manufacture almost entirely in France on some other clothing and fragrance forums in the past.
As for iPhone 5, mine is Preparing to Ship according to my order status.
I barely justified the price of iPhone 4S and bought one last year, it's good for my purposes maybe even too much gimmicks for me but if it keeps together, i don't see any reason to upgrade it to new one. Of course service provider has already contacted me with their latest offer "Upgrade and get cheaper minutes by renewing your contract" And if i don't? "well we can't combine cheaper minutes to ya old iPhone." Which continues on my behalf, look pal i've already paid the phone in full, so this time I won't change a phone, but service provider with cheaper minutes

Yea...
...plenty of tech people are saying the iphone5 just isn't enough of a step up to warrant it's high price - over £500 - ...although all of them say it looks good...but people are buying it at ridiculous rates...so Apple obviously know their market and just how a fool and their money are easily parted !

You have to hand it to Apple -{
The pricing is pretty on par with other unlocked smartphones in the UK and considering the praise and success of iPhone as a line, I imaginethey could charge more than the more forgotten and replaced lines of phones out there that they are competing with. Sounds plenty competitive to me to have it priced similarly to the other high-end smartphones out there. In the US they start at $199 through the most common method of purchase which is on contract with a carrier.
But it is up to an individual to decide what is worth upgrading for. As much as people feel like downplaying it, the phone has a gorgeous body (and despite what some other companies would like you to believe by misleadingly stating measurements at the thinner parts of their phones, iPhone 5 is indeed the world's thinnest smartphone) with some of the most solid fit and finish on the market. It has a great screen with a favorable 16:9 HDTV ratio, one of the best front-facing cameras in phones and a well-received back camera, 4G LTE, and updated power chip.
If it is all about the OS to you, then sure, you'll upgrade just fine to iOS 6 on your current model, all the way back through 2009's 3GS (a level support Android can't boast consistently across its lineups and varying screen configurations). But if you really enjoy the body updates (which are a big deal to me) paired with the coming OS update, there's no question it is desirable enough to buy.
And plenty of tech people are buying them, so let's not get confused and think its gotten a thumbs down in the tech critic world.
It supposedly has sold in 1 hour as many iPhone 4S models sold in 22 hours, and that was a monumental gadget launch at the time. It doesn't make us fools, it means it has enough value to us for an upgrade.
Really ? We are talking about a piece of glass, metal and plastic here
Well supposedly the 5 is now entirely metal and glass on the outside.
Never thought a car was gorgeous? No good-looking phones to you?
And it's a bit subjective as well. What I say may not be how others feel (well the others that have never bought in to the iPhone design styles).
Each on to their own, i can say a phone is nice but gorgeous is just too strong word for me. And Trust me i was well brought into cell phone design since late 80's / early 90's -{

So I have iOS 6 downloaded on my 4S. Downloaded a couple of recommended apps, like the Find My iPhone (woah......my Macbook just spell corrected my spelling. I typed it a IPhone and it corrected it to iPhone. Darn you Apple). Now, seems like every time I touch my phone or my Macbook I get an e-mail saying my laptop or phone has been found. Looks like I'll be shutting this app off very soon. I also like the Maps feature. No street view yet, but it does have a 360 degree view of neighborhoods and stuff. Still playing around with the new system. 200 new features and I've found 2. I'd love to know what the other 198 new features are. Anybody know?

Autocorrect can be a pain, but I like it when it corrects the Apple product names. ) Find My iPhone isn't new, but I'd imagine you might have marked your phone as missing or something. I haven't gotten a "Found" email since the day I tested the app out long ago.
Passbook, several native store and app updates, and maps are the first you will recognize.
Do Not Disturb settings have been added, along with some other Settings revamps. I know that it now marks newly downloaded apps that you haven't used yet with an iBooks-style 'New' tag. Mail has expanded settings including VIP Mailbox and a nifty refresh animation like you might find in some third-party apps. Photo Stream albums can now be split into shared Photo Streams with your contacts along with comments. Twitter and Facebook integration has spread to more spots in iOS.
I'd imagine most of the features are hard-to-catch updates on existing parts of the OS.

Total iPhone family.
My understanding is that Do Not Disturb lets a call or text make noise if the person has tried twice in a row, so that emergencies don't go unnoticed when someone is trying to reach you.
