C'mon, you KNOW you all would like one if it were exquisitely cast & handsomely produced, right?

I would totally love a GOOD TV series, especially with Barry-type music, however I think the 'event' factor would be lost. Bond movies are a THING, and a stream of TV Bond stories would dilute that.
Still, I'd watch/buy it!

Thoughts?

I wouldn't mind a James Bond tv series. Maybe a story during his early days before he got his 007 License to kill. Some think Young James Bond should have become a series.
American has tried a spy tv series, the latest was "Chuck".

I don't know about Bond, but I would love a modern-day take on Mission: Impossible, if it had the tone of the original show.

I would go for that too. I liked the second Mission: Impossible - - - - - - - - -<> tv series in 1988-90. Can't say I care for the movies. I dislike Tom Cruise. I pray that Mr. Cruise, the owner of United Artist, does not take over the James Bond franchise if something should happen to EON Producers Michael G. Wilson and Barbara Broccoli.

It would undermine the official series really. Funnily enough, they could probably do the effects as well as on a real Bond film, but the comparison would suffer.

However, a 50-minute show on the side to go out with a new film might work, as a DVD extra. Like The Incredibles, where they show what happened when they left the baby to fend for itself or something.

I'd think a TV series might cheapen the franchise to some degree. As others have noted, the films may lose their event status & we'd suffer Bond overkill. Familiarity breeds contempt & all that.

However, I would like to see the return of the type of adventure series so popular in the '60s & '70s. Alas, it's all contrived reality shows, soaps & hospital/police dramas now.

Yeah. It was just a late night thought... this waiting MORE than two years between each movie is beginning to annoy me though...

I agree it would definately lessen the appeal of the movies. There is quite a bit of spy tv series out there that I have enjoyed.
Spooks, The Man From U.N.C.L.E., The Prisoner (The original one), Mission Impossible, are ones that immediately spring to mind. I enjoyed all of these.

I know there are others but they don't spring to mind at this moment int time.

Post World War two era mini series. A period piece depicting Bond in the style and timeframe of the original books. No more than a handful of feature length episodes, like the BBC adaptations of period stuff like The Bronte sisters novels or recent adaptions od Shakespeare's work.

That way a short term Bond series that's true to Mr Flemings literary work, yet carefully set apart from the film series to avoid any franchise saturation.

I agree, chrisisall. I can understand for taking a break because of MGM going through bankruptcy, but it has been said Michael G. Wilson is giving some thought to another break. I'm sick and tired of the 3 to 4 years waiting for a new James Bond film too.
I'm getting older myself and I want to see as many James Bond movies as I can.
If it is too much work for Mr. Wilson, maybe he should think about retiring and let one of the sons take over.
I with MGM/Sony on this. They want "every 2 years". That sounds great to me.
Their is a thing called Momentum and you should strike while the iron is HOT. If fans can count on a James Bond movie every 2 years, I guarantee older fans and new fans will go to the movie theaters like hot cakes.
It worked for the Lord of the Rings movies (2001,2002,2003) and the SAW movies every year 2003-2010. Now we have the prequels to The Lord of the Rings, titled, The Hobbit (2012, 2013, 2014).
