Should they bring the jetpack back?

Ever since Thunderball came out the jetpack is the most famous Bond gadget next to the Ashton Martin DB5, although it has been only used on screen once. Would you guys like to see it make a return in the Craig era? I think it could work, aslong as they ditched the goofy looking helmet.

I would personally move to see it back in action. I think they could definately redesign it, as long as they kept it pretty retro.

I always found the jet pack scene in TB cringe inducing. It ended what had been a great, brutal fight scene on a silly, ridiculous note.

Really though, I've never been into gadgets, either in films or in real life. I prefer the Bond gadgetry to be kept at a minimal, believable level, i.e. the briefcase in FRWL.

I am disappointed by the jetpack scene in TB because it's just a simple finish to the PTS, and it was never used again. I would love to see it brought back, improved, and emphasized much more. I always thought the poster art for TB was misleading because it insinuated that Bond's arial antics would have more to them.

Except that the jet pack was/is real. So although included just for the spectacle, it was a real thing that really flew. In that sense, it was no different than including one of the first digital watches and many other bits and bobs of exciting cutting-edge technology just for the ooomph of it and not because it was really the most practical thing for the purpose needed/intended.

That is true, but so is what you said about the practicality of it. The jet pack served no real purpose in TB except to stimulate those who are into "exciting cutting-edge technology," which is a group I am not a member of.

I think gadgets should be limited, and if used, be treated as practical tools to get the job done. A good non-Bond example would be the TV show 'Burn Notice.'

    How about an upgrade?

It does not fit in the back of a car and cannot take off from the ground (it's dropped from a plane). It's a jet wingpack developed by Yves Rossy. It has carbon fibre wings spanning approx eight feet, four small kerosene-burning jet engines, has reached a speed of 186mph (299kph), and crossed the English channel from Calais to Dover in nine minutes seven seconds.

I don't think we'll be seeing D Craig strapping himself into a jet pack any time soon.
But they might give him a new "Little Nellie "

I don't think it should be a strap-in gadget deal.

Maybe if he's in Miami and he is chasing someone around some rich mega-yacht area and spots one at one of those showy rental places, than grabs on and quickly for about 3-5 seconds runs the jets to shoot himself up to the balcony deck on a yacht or mansion or something (getting soaked as he flies up a story or two), it could be okay ( http://youtu.be/im1iNq02Kz0?t=47s ). Sort of like when he steps onto the beams in the Casino Royale chase and switches the bracket to send him flying as a nice alternative to a Q-branch rappel gun.

It does look a bit contrived having a scene like that, but no reason why a villain couldn't indulge in such a thing, if he's a big kid with a big wallet.

Wasn't the jet pack given a nod in homage packed DAD, with the switchblades?

Looking back at TB, wasn't the jet pack in there as it was new tech, ground breaking and all that stuff? If I remember right, the jet pack was meant for the US marines so they could all fly into battle?

So maybe not a jet pack, but a modern equivalent that ticks the same boxes?

What about a car that can go invisible? :))

The Jet Pack almost made it back for TWINE, but they used the F-COM instead.
