Two skyfall soundtracks?

I preordered the skyfall soundtrack today on Amazon and noticed their was 2. One was approximately $15 & the other was about $25. Does anyone know if this is a special edition or an extended version like they did with the DAD soundtrack.

Guessing based on those listings alone until a more informed person chimes in:

The cheaper one says it is by Various Artists and can be received on release date (in the US). This means, it is either the US release, or it will be the Soundtrack (not the Score) to the film. The more expensive one says it is by Thomas Newman and it is noted as an import, without any note that it may arrive on release date by shipping. This means, as an Import it is the UK release, or it is the separate Score of all the composed tracks by Thomas Newman. My guess is that it is just the two different region releases, but it's hard to say. Casino Royale had a Digital Deluxe edition. Perhaps there could be a Score and Soundtrack, or Standard and Deluxe, or US and UK.

Various artists? Sounds odd. Such terminology is normally reserved for soundtracks littered with pre-existing songs. Perhaps the Tarantino influence spreads wider than we thought.

I don't think it'd suit the Bonds to have songs shoved in & can't see it here. It must be a descriptive error. I remember cringing in my seat when I heard the first strains of 'London Calling' in DIE ANOTHER DAY. Perhaps it was impish irony on Lee Tamahori's part to include material diametrically opposed to the Bond universe. Or perhaps he just saw the word 'London' & thought it might be a good fit for a Buck House parachute drop.

Perhaps it's simply labelled Various artists because it has Newman's work as well as the title song artist. I agree that a soundtrack littered with source music is not a good idea.

The Specialist had two albums, one John Barry's work, the other, oh that Cuban band, can't recall them now, loads of hits in the 1980s, Miami Sound Machine was it? With Gloria Estafan? That one just had one track of Barry's.

Could be we have the Trainspotter treatment with loads of well known DJs chiming in plus Adele's song, then we have the separate, not very exciting eerie Newman work, but I am only speculating on top of speculation.

Now it says it is by Thomas Newmann. I am confused because I preordered the $25 one which has 30 tracks.

Now it sounds to me like they are both the Thomas Newman score with just a few labeling errors due to the different regions, US and UK (import) versions.

UK Itunes has 31 tracks on the Skyfall soundtrack as opposed to 30 on the CD!

I emailed amazon about this to nail down the difference between the 2 soundtracks. This is the response I got;
