However, can you believe it that I haven's watched a Bond movie in all of 2012, and maybe for more than a year?

Totally agree, started with the books aged about 10,
When the first movie came out? Whoah...
Unfortunately wasn't aware of the films until Goldfinger.

Yes, I sometimes questiion my loyalty to the James Bond brand - but I intend to be in for the long haul, hopefully! I wonder are we not all sad with no life, but I suppose there are hobbies that are a lot worse! 8-)

Bond will always be a part of my life, it informs my choice of clothes, interior design (ken Adams/Piz Gloria) Bond was responsible for my taking up Martial Arts as a child ( 11) and my choice of cars. However I am getting a little jaded with Cinema-Bond, three films in and we are still in my view waiting for the finished article. 24 will be the decider, if its another self concerned story concerning any central characters past ( I really fear more backstory concerning Bonds parents ) I'll be out of here for a while. I'll still have the literary Bond though.
I will never 'grow' out of Bond.
I became a professional filmmaker because of my love for 007 movies (at the age of 11 after seeing Goldeneye I made it my goal to direct the 30th Bond film).
So in a way I owe my career to 007.
I'm only 19 now and have already had 10 years with Bond! Seen Die Another Day in 2002 and haven't looked back since. If anything over the years my love for Bond has got stronger and stronger! Im still young though so who knows what the future will bring, I don't see myself getting over it any time soon though -{
I tend to really like it until something actively puts me off it.
Back in the 90s GoldenEye got me into Bond and the decreasing quality of the later Brosnan films (not awful IMO but not the best) put me off it.
These days, CR and QoS got me back into it majorly, but Skyfall has put me off. Perhaps I'll go back to sleep on this again for a bit and wake up when the next Bond that I like is released!!

Men who dig Bond, never really outgrow it. Was musing on this while walking to my monthly massage.[1] There are so many things in the Bond mythos, particularly the one galvanized by Young, Connery, Hamilton, Maibaum, et al, that it taps into some very primal desires that modern men have.

WTH wants to outgrow all that in a single, potent fantasy.
The film series has lost me several times ... and I've come back with skepticism (probably no more so than with CR, I stayed away until a couple I knew all but begged me to go see it, telling me it was a "whole new ballgame) ... but when the series lets me down, I have the originals on dvd and now bd. FRWL and the first six minutes of GF still do it for me, every time.
When I'm feeling a bit down, I can always put on my 5513 or 6538 homages, an imported dress shirt and Egyptian cotton slacks, close shave followed with bay rum,... and live the dream. Firearm optional.

Eh? You're put off Bond yet you join a James Bond forum!
Mind you, so did I just before DAD came out. That should have put me off for good. Be very careful my friend, it's easy to get hooked on something you don't like or something that needs fixing, it's like an abusive relationship. Look how many posts I've got.
My Dad used to like Bond movies, but now he's well into his eighties, and has little use for them. I suppose in somewhat the same way I have little use for teenage sex comedies, although I can still have a good laugh with one when one pops up.
But I liked Bond movies when I was too young to consider shagging a Bond Girl, I like them now that I am Bond's age in MR & NSNA, and I expect that when I am really old and decrypted, I shall enjoy them then as well.
So, when will YOU grow up & leave all this foolishness behind? ?:)
Never. I was brought up on Bond films. My dad who is 44 like 007, I love 007, my brother who is 8 now, like 007 since he was 4. Even my mum, who generaly don't like spy films (!) has recently become Bond's fan. We're Bond family and we will be.
Well... Even less probable to outgrow 007 make the fact, that because of him I decided to became a director...

And unlike a Craig Bond film, no doubt comes with a happy ending...
