Hi, not sure if anyone here likes Major League Baseball, or Baseball movies but 42 is coming out next year and it looks great. It is the story about Jackie Robinson, the first black MLB player. It stars Harrison for as the GM. Anyway the movie looks fantastic, I can't wait to see it.

    I love baseball but want to see another preview before I decide if I want to see this. Maybe I'm being overly critical, but the release date worries me. April, just after the Oscars are awarded. If this movie wanted serious Oscar contention, it would be released in November or December. I know I shouldn't look at it like that, but I have a feeling this movie won't be taken seriously and be quickly forgotten. It's also surprising they couldn't release this to coincide with a major anniversary of his debut in baseball (April 15th, 1947). I do realize it's being released before the 2013 baseball season, but 66 years after Robinsons debut, and 123 years after the Dodgers debut in Major League Baseball worries me. Not much thought was put into this release. I do hope it's better than I'm expecting it to be.

    I saw a trailer for the film this weekend while watching Trouble with the Curve and I thought the trailer looked good I have read a Jackie Robison & Branch Rickey (Dodger GM that signed Jackie) biography so I know the history and the film appears to be factually accurate, from the little I saw. I will almost certainly see the film.

    The release date in April makes sense to me as that is when baseball starts and interest in a baseball movie would high.

    Hmmm, a Jackie Robinson book, I think I have time to go and buy the autobiography and read it before the movie comes out.
    I thoughtthe trailer looked good, but I am a fan of sports related movies so could be biased.

    The son of the late Harold Parrott the Dodgers traveling secretary wrote on his FB page , his dad's book LORDS OF BASEBALL was used in writing the scenes/script . ;)
    T.R. Knight (Grey's Anatomy) will play Harold Parrott.

    Does anybody actually read this book ?
