My views on Connery changed after seeing the new doc

You know what, after seeing Everything Or Nothing, Connery had a really good reason to ditch the role, it wasnt that he was bored of the role like most of us thought.

How about you guys?

I haven't seen it, but I always understood that it was because Broccoli and Saltzman didn't want to make him a partner. For a percentage of the profits he would have been excited to do more Bond films.

What? It's how it works! Connery gave his all, and was paid pretty well, just not what his input was worth to the franchise. I can't blame him for his attitude. Without HIM, Bond (movie-wise) MIGHT have been a one off.
    Am I derailing, really?

I'm sorry to ask, what did you mean by seeing Everything Or Nothing? Is it a documentary of some sort?
(I do know EON supposidly stands for Everything Or Nothing, and I also know about the game that came out with the same name.. )

It's a new documentary film that's being shown at Odeon cinema's at the moment... more details here (with trailer and pics)

It's also being discussed here http://www.ajb007.co.uk/topic/39089/bond-documentary-everything-or-nothing-in-uk-cinemas-oct-5/

Hardly de-railing... just joining in the coversation by the looks of it :)

Connery did seem to feel he wasn't given enough money... even though it made him a star, but there you go!

AND, his pay for DAF made him the highest paid actor in the world that year, I understand. Not too shabby, but he had wanted to be a partner earlier, and they were like no way so he was like highway. And that's how it works if you're the worker & not the boss.

I'm in two minds about whether or not he had a point.... I mean, did he? It seemed like a symbiotic relationship..without Connery then no successful Bond... and without EON then no chance for Connery... so who was right?

Or is that just the nature of the game....?

It's just such a shame that Connery is now not willing to be involved in anything Bond... is he right to still have the grudge?

He's stubborn. But that's just him.
And he did THIS in 2010, so he does have a sense of humour about it all, I guess...

Judging by Letterman in that clip, I think that's several years older than 2010. Nonetheless, it is long after Connery's reign as Bond.

Really? I've heard Lazenby himself previously quoted as saying that his agent talked him into quitting the role ...

What does the doco say actually happened?

I would also bear in mind that the documentary will only give one side of any argument...so it will hardly be conclusive.

idk, it seemed pretty legit to me. I never knew that the people in Japan had a total lack of respect for Connery during the filming of YOLT. No wonder he wanted to get out of the role so bad.

Yo, pay ME what he got paid, and I'd not care if the locals at the shooting location hate me or not! I'd just be a professional dooink a job. :))

Maybe I'd like to try and find out a bit more about it first, in order to ascertain if it's actually worth watching or not. :007)

A beard & long hair may denote an aversion to establishment norms, but 'dirty hippie' is fairly pejorative, is it not?
