Bond Converts anyone?

Have any of you guys made other people Bond fans?
I have a few under my pallet, the first was a man I was stuck with for a little while, his name was James actually, and we got talking about everything and I asked him if he had seen any Bond films. He said he had seen Octopussy, which he said he enjoyed and it all started from there. That conversation kind of got him interested and when he was in a DVD store once he bought Octopussy, watched it and lent it to me becasue I hadn't owned back then. From there, we both bought and lent the Dvd's I don't really see a lot any more but when we do he always says ,'seen any Bond films recently, Xboy?' There is another guy, a big film nerd, who hadn't seen a Bond film yet, so I leant him about 3 or 4, mixed in with Midsomer Murder episodes and he enjoyed them, (he liked the 'keeping the british end up, sir' line) but nothing has really happened since then. Then their the last guy, this one is a bit more recent, was looking for some decent books to read as the man was having quite a lot of spare time. I gave him my License to Kill Novelization by John Gardner which I bought the other day and hadn't read yet. He read it in a flash, and loved it. I gave him the License to Kill DVD next becasue he had read it the book and I thought he would hae quite liked to see the film. He enjoyed that so I gave him John Gardner's License Renewed and For Special Services, then Colonel Sun, Goldfinger (which he thought was quite boring) and right now I have James Bond and Moonraker to let him borrow.
He also enjoys the films, he likes the funny one liners in the Moore films, the old gadgets in the Connery films and the action in the Brosnan/Craig films. Either he (or my father) are going to go to Skyfall with me. I thought about this today, and I was thinking, have any of you guys made any of your friends Bond fans?

I haven't actually converted anyone, but I was amazed at how many co-workers told me they'd been watching Bond movies all weekend on the Sky007 channel. Lots of mixed views, some loving all of them, one guy saying he thought some of them were dated. A huge heated convo about OHMSS as well.

The Sky007 channel is fab. I mean, we all have the DVDs, boxed sets etc etc, but for general Joe Public woh doesn't watch one every day I think it has really raised the profile of the series!

I'm constantly amazed how so many people I interact with don't seem to give a stuff about Bond. In fact there's only one friend & his partner who have a liking of the character, but alas even their interest in 007 has dwindled in the Daniel Craig era, especially his girlfriend who has an almost pathalogical hatred of the last two films. I doubt the general goodwill currently being bestowed on SKYFALL will change her mind. Given this & the occasional sneering attitude to Bond by the popular press I often wonder how poor old 007 manages to actually be successful!

A killer blow was dealt during a social gathering last year. I was chatting to a 26 year old, newly employed work colleague who admitted to not even knowing who Roger Moore was! My heart sank like a stone.

im also quite surprised by how many of my friends could care less about Bond, the having a passing interest but thats it.

I'm a teacher and one of my subjects is Norwegian in 7th grade. One of the things I do is to re-stock the school library. I have of cource started supplying the library with "Young Bond"-books, and it's fun to see young people reading James Bond and telling me how they loved the books. 007 for a new generation!

I picked up the Bond 50th Postcard Collection at my local mega-bookshop the other week and the three cashiers suddenly became very animated about how excited they all were by Skyfall and how much they all love DC as Bond. The interesting thing is that the trio were comprised of a middle-aged woman, a guy in his 30s and a very gay guy in his early 20s...so quite a cross-section of people and all very enthusiastic about Bond, Craig and Skyfall.

I got one of my best friends to watch LALD with me, and she liked it, so we watched TSWLM, GE and GF is next. We're easing into them all, haha. I've seen them so many times, but shes enjoying the experience, which is nice.

Apart from her, not many of my friends are interested in Bond, unfortunately I think I could count the number on my fingers..

I bet the Bond for whom these three were most enthusiastic would change if you added 30 years to their age, maybe even the guy in his early 20s who would then be in his early 50s and might still be in the closet, but then again, DC's hunkiness transcends generations. ;%

I've been teaching kids filmmaking at school and the other week we were making a car chase with toy cars. I showed them several car chase scenes from the Bond films and got them to study types of angles, speed of cut, geography of the scene, Sfx, sense of speed and time etc. They loved it!
