We all know marmite stinks and is thick and gooey, like treacle. Treacle though is sweeter, bit like sugar. Sugar we put in our tea, tea time is around 5 o'clock where us Brits love to eat cucumber sangers. Sangers rhymes with hangers. Hangers is where planes are stored, planes can also be tools to smooth wood. Wood grows in forests and alongside fields where you'll sometimes find a ditch. It's cold right now, and when you have a cold and say 'ditch' it can sound like 'bitch', and I knew a bitch once and referred to her as a complete witch, so.....
If Lexi smells like marmite she must be a witch. In which case;
Burn her
Any volunteers to sniff Lexi?
Anyone?
At all?
I love marmite......
Oh dear, I think I'm in trouble
She's worth whatever chaos she brings to the table and you know it. ~ Mark Anthony
True, now if only he were cooler than Dalton... :v
I love Dalton for trying to stop the rot but he's not in the same ballpark as Craig or Connery for me. His films although i admire them they are flawed. I find it insane that some people on here think he's the best Bond aheadof Connery and Craig.

How good he was as Bond and how good his films were in general are, I believe, issues that can be discussed separately. :007)

I think Dalton's Bond is the closest to Fleming's Bond that any actor has come. I would definitely rate him ahead of Craig but not quite ahead of Connery. I believe that Connery's portrayal is much more rounded, in the sense that he could be the ruthless killer that shoots Professor Dent in Dr No but by the same token, make love to Ms Taro, and joke about somebody being "on their way to a funeral". Connery's Bond is the consummate professional who knows how to enjoy himself.
I think, however, that Dalton's portrayal beats Craig's (and everyone else's) portrayal in terms of accuracy and adherence to the original Fleming concept. Fleming's Bond isn't the superhero that takes himself as lightly as Moore, he isn't as well built as Craig, and he's not as overtly self-confident as Connery. He has a bit of self loathing and self doubt, and definitely a dark, cruel edge. Craig's Bond, on the other hand, isn't quite the same. While I liked his performance as Bond in Casino Royale, I can't help but feel that the film's partial adherence to the Fleming novel of the same name gave that impression about him. I'm beginning to agree with the people who say that Craig's portrayal of Bond as more of a "thug". While Fleming's Bond had a refined, classy taste, I don't think Craig pulls off that side of the character quite as well.
Since this is my first post here and controversial opinions always make you known, here are sme of mine
- Daf would have been a better movie if Roger Moore had played Bond. The movie would
have suited him better than Connery.
- LALD is by far the best Roger Moore Bond. Increasing age and weight/unflattering girth
made him more and more implausible as a secret agent after 1973.
- Sean Bean is the best villain in the later Bond era (Dalton/Brosnan/Craig) so far.
- If in 1981 a change in the lead role would have occured my favorite would have been
Lewis Collins.
- Not sure OHMSS would have been a better movie with Connery in the lead. I think Connery
at this stage of his career hadn't got the acting experience to show the emotional depth of
Bond's involvement with Tracy. I'm not saying that Lazenby had. Just that Connery would
have had his problems there. And his boredom with the role would probably have ruined
the movie like it did to YOLT.

Agreed. I think Connery adapts poor posture when he isn't working with Terence Young (although Goldfinger is kind of the exception to the rule). This becomes more apparent in You Only Live Twice and Diamonds Are Forever; he doesn't move quite as gracefully as he does in the earlier movies.

"The secret agent. The man who was only a silhouette..." -- Ian Fleming, Moonraker
1) The Spy Who Loved Me 2) On Her Majesty's Secret Service 3) GoldenEye 4) Casino Royale 5) Goldfinger
Yes it has moment where the writing sucks, but I enjoy the complexity and having to watch it multiple times to catch everything. Like in the Opera scene, you hear one of the members of Quatum say something along the lines of "Is the Tiara Project worth our time? Maybe we should focus on the Canadian instead." Then at the end of the movie, the girl is the Canadian mentioned earlier in the movie. There's so much going on, it's hard to miss. But there are more than a few little things like that all through the movie.
Despite an overall low opinion of TND, I actually thought that one moment was truly hilarious. It brought to mind Goldfinger's amusement and subsequent wearily sarcastic dismissal of the Aston Martin.
Here we go:
I don't really like Sean Connery, I seem to hate goldfinger and I find his films a bit dated and corny.
I prefer Craig, Dalton, Moore, Brosnan to him

While I don't dislike Connery, I'm often frustrated by purists who still insist that he's the number one Bond. Part of the reason most of the other Bonds got crapped on, and still do to this day, was because many critics have a tough time letting go of his iconic portrayal. It's infuriating.

Well ... he is still the number one Bond. It's got nothing to do with not being able to let go of the past, it's a recognition of his acting talents that his portrayal of Bond is still considered by many as the definitive Bond. Perhaps it was Connery, or perhaps it was Terence Young who basically taught Connery everything he knew about the character. Either way, from a Fleming purist's perspective, only Dalton's two performances as Bond are right up there with Connery's first two as being the most "authentic" and "true" to the character.
Yes, it's arguable that he didn't maintain that sort of momentum throughout his stint as Bond. And on that point, I agree. But his performances as Bond in his first two films set the bar so high that I find it difficult to consider that any other actor - Dalton aside - have been able to reach.
He had an incredible screen prescence as Bond. I don't believe that he played it as Flemings Bond but built upon latent but discernable elements that added swagger and a cool arrogance that was essential to the popularity of the on screen Bond and the series as a whole. If you want Flemings Bond look to Dalton. It is possible that a Flemingesque interpretation lacks something for the cinema and cinema audiences. Fan of Dalton as I am it cannot be ignored that although he has powerful support from hard core Flemingists it cannot be ignored that he never really captured the popular vote. Craig to his credit has largely been able to unite huge public approval, and the support of die hard elements.

2) I find much of OHMSS deadly dull. The skiing scenes put me to sleep.
3) I don't think Fleming's Bond is very cinematic, and am pleased that the films have never really tried to portray him.

I think that Craig and even Dalton bring more charisma to the role than is found in Fleming's character. He's got no wit or charm.
