I liked the Skyfall score fine within the context of the film, but as a soundtrack on its own, it's less memorable than the previous two.
Howard Shore would be great.
The score had its moments. "Severine" and the pre-title sequence music were highlights and reminded me of the classic Barry scores. The music cue when the DB5 is unvailed may be the best two musical notes in the whole film.....
IMO, Barry's scores were just as big a part of the films as almost anything else. Get Arnold back for 24 or better yet, Michael Giacchino or whom ever else is willing to carry on in the style of John Barry. Also, the title song should be written in collaboration with the composer of the score and then incorporated into the score. It's a shame that Adele's theme was not able to be used by Newman....it would have added something to the score IMO.
I listened to CR, QOS and Skyfall back to back to back on a multihour road trip and Skyfall was easily my fav of the 3, I would say that Howard Shore would be pretty great but sometimes his LOTR is almost to epic all the time and I like the moodiness of Skyfall quite a bit, to each his own though ... I like Zimmer for a lot of stuff, especially Inception, but his stuff does seem to be similar and can be spotted from a long ways off ...
I would be up for a good skiing scene, but knowing DC he would want to do the stunts scenes himself...and I've never seen him on a skiing holiday...so...
Would also like to see an underwater/scuba scene....we haven't seen DC do this either...we've only seen him come out of water, or falling in it )
And any Mods out there....how about a new forum for this topic? Please.... :x

How about they adapt the Moonraker novel, Bond doing a favour for M is a great way to start the relationship of the two. It would be called The Inhuman Element

I'm sorry to say that this can't happen until SiCo returns...it is only he that has the power to alter the boards in such a way...
Could SiCo possibly 'Pass the power on' to some other mods? Like, appoint a second site admin that can make site changes while he's still not here? (As he doesn't seem to be returning any time soon ) Just a suggestion...
EDIT: I'm not belittling SiCo here, he obviously does a great job, it's just that, as we know, he's absent at the moment...

He could...but we don't know how easy it is to do that...or how easy it is to change the site like that...and I don't think any of us want to...which is more to the point.

@Beluville Yes, Bond is still a former Navy man. When Casino Royale came out on the films official website they had a dossier on James Bond's background, and it did mention service in the Royal Navy's Special Boats Squadron (basicaly the British version of the US Navy SEALs).

Fair enough. Just a suggestion really as I mentioned. If any mods would take this on though and bring back the favourite films feature, well, I'd love you forever
According to Baz Bamigboye of the Daily Mail, Sam Mendes is 75% of the way to making up his mind whether to return. He was initially reluctant because screenwriter John Logan was planning to write a two part story, but that plan has been jettisoned. Bond 24 & 25 will be stand alone films. At present Logan's thoughts for Bond 24 are in the form of two treatment papers outlining a rough idea of the plot. In theory, Mendes is on board, but wants to see the finished script before he fully commits.
If the script is still at the outline stage, there's no way that Bond 24 is coming out in 2014.
Why? Skyfall was halted in 2010/early 2011 due to MGM's financial troubles, but filming began in late 2011 with the film coming out 11 months later. Pretty good tunaround I reckon.
If the producers et al don't want to capitalise on the success of Skyfall and put a new film out soon, with Bond fever at an all time high (to quote Rita Coolidge) then they'd be mad. It just feels like they "captured lightning in a bottle" with SF, so why would they want to let that fade away?
DC has already said if the script is ready to go, then the sooner the better. 4 years was way too long to wait for the last film, thank God they delivered so well.
Skyfall started shooting 11/07/11 and came out a year later, so they would have to finish writing the script and preparing the movie by november this year if they want to have it out by november next year.

If the script is in outline, then a finished script isn't going to be ready until mid-May at the earliest. Then the producers, Craig, Mendes, MGM, Sony and possibly others will all want input on the script. There goes another three months. After QOS,the movie isn't going to get a green light until everybody agrees on the script. Bond 23 (as it was known then) got a green light in Nov. 2010 and filming started in Nov. 2011. For a Nov. 2014 release of Bond 24 they would have to start filming no later than early Jan. 2014. That just isn't going to happen if they don't even have a script yet.
Personally, I don't have a problem with a 2015 release. EON seems to do better when they have more time to work with.
Ben Whishaw seems fairly confident that Bond 24 will begin shooting by the end of this year. Speaking to RadioTimes.com at the gala screening of Cloud Atlas: "we know that we'll probably be back together again in about ten months." Then, perhaps realising he'd said too much, he added quickly: "Well, hopefully. Let's hope so!" Asked who he'd like to see carry on the 007 role after Daniel Craig: "I know that he's doing the next three so I'm not thinking beyond that. We've got to just get through those first."

So excited about this! The quick turn around of Bond 24 should allow them to build on the success of Skyfall and also glad about the fact Craig is doing the next three. I know some of you won't share that view however )

Who really knows what they have at this point except EON, and the other principals (Mendes, Craig, etc)?
With Logan as the only screenwriter on Bond 24, one would think that things would move along a bit quicker.
As far as Mendes' input re the script, Logan and he are used to working together so that shouldn't slow things down much.
If the source is "reliable" it would appear that Mendes own schedule could push things back.
One would think that MGM would like to have another Bond film out sooner than later as it appears that while 007 may not be the savior of the free world, he is certainly the savior of MGM.

The problem is, Logan was reported top be working on the script four months ago. If he's still working on a outline, then he's not moving too quickly.
Also, the hardest thing in writing fiction is coming up with new ideas. In that respect, two heads are better than one.
