Brolin, would he have worked?

Having watched the extra's on my OP dvd, I have to say I liked the look of James Brolin's screen test scenes. I'm one of those Bond fans who believe that Bond should be played by a Brit, put Brolin did look like he could hurt a man (unlike the ageing Moore) and if he could have pulled off a convincing british accent, I'd have like to have seen Brolin in OP and AVTAK.

    Basically they Needed Moore for Octopussy as Connery was doing NSNA.
    and given Brolin's Screen test He could probably do a better fight scene
    than Moore, But I doubt the rest of his acting would of been any better
    British accent or not.

    I like Brolin as an actor, was a Marcus Welby fan, love Westworld, but NO. Bond is not American, and no American could have then (or now) played him correctly. Call me culturally biased, but that's my story and I'm sticking to it.

    In many ways I regard P Brosnan as the first American to Play Bond.
    Given the years he's lived there and the amount of American TV he's done.
    Infact he's been in America so long he seems to find it Hard to do an
    Irish accent. and comes off as One of those Irish accents from a 50's
    British comedy. :))

    I really like James Brolin in films like Westworld and Capricorn One. But I don't believe he would have worked as Bond.

    Given that Brolin screen tested one must assume that Cubby Broccoli was serious about him. But he really wanted Roger Moore because the risk of putting a new actor up against Sean Connery/Never Say Never Again was too great.

    The franchise wouldn't of crashed but he doesn't really fit. His combat scene from his audition was rather poor (At least in my eyes)

    The accent wasn't a true American accent if he could of disguised it a little more he may of been decent but not as successful as Connery or Moore.

    I don't know :S I like Octopussy with Moore, and I love Dalton in his movies. What would have happened if Brolin took the role for 10 years..... No Dalton in TLD....

    Besides this, Cubby got the castings for the main actors pretty well.
