I'm sure many of the people here are loving the fact you're resurrecting the ranking threads Wadsy! :p

    1. Anya. Mostly because of the chemistry she has with Bond/Roger. She's stunning to look at. Has a good (not entirely believable) story to give her character more weight too. "What's the trouble, never seen a major taking a shower before?"

    2. Octopussy. She's strong and her age is closer to Roger. They've got good chemistry too. I do wish the relationship between her and Kamal was explored further to give her presence a bit more weight though.

    3. Stacey. Hot to trot and while her "James" screams are annoying I do actually like her as a character. She's got a good back story and reason to exist. Plus despite the age difference I think her chemistry with Roger isn't too bad (better than Melina).

    4. Melina. Her character is affected by malaise and grief. I get more out of her as an actress or even a potential Bond girl from the production videos, featuring some great chemistry with Roger. She plays her character perfectly fine, but because of the way it's written she's not a Bond girl that ever shines. Her reaction to Bond turning up in Corfu with "James!" and her happiness at the market etc. is the greatest example of what she could've been if given the chance to show something more.

    5. Goodhead. I can't quite figure out if I like her that much. I don't think there's much chemistry between Moore/Chiles, and the way her character is written doesn't help this. However, at times I like the way she delivers lines "But I'm sure I shall" and now and then she does act with a bit more panache. IMO she's probably the most classically beautiful of the lot.

    6. Goodnight. "Yes you bloody well would" "Well I'm resigning in the morning" "James, you must be good" elevate my interest in Goodnight over Solitaire. Otherwise, bottom of the barrel I'm afraid (not Eckland's fault).

    7. Solitaire. Seymore is stunning to look at, and interesting-ish in other films. But she's a bore here, and there's zero intrigue despite her key place within the story and unusual character traits (tarot cards).

Thing is, the Moore films had some great secondary female characters too:

Mayday, Naomi, Corrine, Lisl and Magda.

Yeah, I love Bond and it's a shame no one posts much these days.
I called Goodnight out as my least favourtie because she is just useless, horrible awful character with nothing to bring to the role whatsoever. If Maud Adams' character had stayed 'alive' and been the main Bond girl instead of a wimp, then there'd be a higher ranking.
Goodhead (Holly) might not have been the worst but shew as the most boring and wooden. Just listen to her say "Hang on James!" on the cable car, or the little scream she makes when Jaws slaps her on the face. Ugh.

I like Sutton more than most here because she brought a warm presence even though Moore and her were completely different as far as age goes. She did contribute to the plot, especially with Silicon Valley and I dunno, I just really enjoyed her character.

1.) Solitare - Great well written characther, with good Moore chemistry.
2.) Anya - The real first Bond girl equal to Bond
3.) Melina - Strong character throughout, though her chemistry with Moore is lacking in spots
4.) Octopussy - Not featured enough, but her screen presence and chemistry with Moore elevates her to 4 spot.
5.) Holly - Uneven in spots, thoguh she can be cool with her byplay with Bond. Acting is a bit rough in spots
6.) Mary - Damsel in distress as an Mi6 agent, poorly written. Works well with Moore though.
7.) Stacy - No chemistry, limited acting range, seems disinterested, and obviously the constant JAAAAMMES can be painful.

    7. Tanya Roberts as Stacey Sutton.
Okay now the age-gap is starting to REALLY show. Sutton screams way too much and looks like she is Bond's caregiver from the retirement home.

    LOL *Laughs. Hilarious comment.

    1. Melina Havelock - She is just the best of the RM era. She is a great deal memorable over 50% of the rest in the series who are either wooden, or were given stuff all to do. Her chemistry with Roger Moore was top notch, and her character was tough and just fantastic.

    2. Solitaire - While LALD may not be among my favourite films, this girl certainly was. She was innocent but also powerful and memorable, and her acting was classic. The only movie I've seen her in believe it or not was Oh Heavenly Dog (1980) starring her, Chevy Chase and Benji the dog. She was good there too, she's just a very warm character and her chemistry with Roger Moore was fantastic.

    3. Anya Amasova - To be honest, she wasn't the greatest actor - she was quite wooden in her performance and always seemed angry or irritated, but what the heck, her boyfriend died so that would make sense. She was tough and strong for sure, and you can't deny that she wasn't hopeless. I rank her here because she is still memorable in one way or the other.

    4. Stacey Sutton - Quite underrated, and I definitely like her. She was a bit of a damsel in distress but man she was very attractive to look at, both in France and in San Francisco. I don't know, I have a soft spot for her because she is definitely a good actor, even if some may say she wasn't here. She was overly nice to James and wasn't mean or challenging to him in any way, so I rank her higher than others.

    5. Octopussy - I'm quite mixed on this one, she wasn't attractive by any means mainly due to her age - but it worked in the film with Roger Moore, being more age appropriate so that's one STRONG positive for OP as a film. So bottom line, she wasn't attractive by any means but she was mysterious - we're we were to assume that she is the villain, then turns out to be a leader of a cult and well... not in on Kamal and Orlov's grand plan.

    6. Holly Goodhead - Now we're into the Bond girls with Roger Moore that I dislike. This one can be described in one word... bland. She was wooden, forgettable, not tough nor a damsel in distress but it never works either way because she is neither attractive or memorable as a Bond girl. I can vaguely remember any stand out moments with her but she just didn't deliver, sorry.

    7. Mary Goodnight - Oooh boy. Where Tanya Roberts managed to keep me invested, this one just made me cringe through an otherwise terrible bond movie. OK, TMWTGG isn't terrible but it is definitely a bad movie due to it's silly plot, campy moments and err, hideous bond girl. This one urks me the most because she plays hard to get with bond then becomes the worst damsel in distress in the entire series, and just does ridiculous things throughout the movie to make Bond's mission more difficult. The same cannot be said for Stacey Sutton, for those who hate her.

I'd say Solitaire, Mayday and Octopussy. Solitaire for her beauty.Mayday for her beauty and power(not one of the 7 I know) and I love Octopussy's chemistry with Bond. You could actually believe they could be a genuine couple.

In a different way of thinking, perhaps you have to think of who you would like to act with most. But heres my list.

    2. Magda
    3. Jenny Flex
    4. Manuella
    5. Solitaire
    6. Chu Mi
    7. Bibi Dahl

    7. Octopussy - Might've confused her for furniture if she had any less to do in her own film.
    6. Stacy
    5. Havelock - Pretty one note, and never smiles unless its the most inappropriate moment. She gets points just for having a crossbow.
    4. Goodnight - A funny hot ditz.
    3. Solitaire
    2. XXX
    1. Goodhead - A very underrated and capable bond girl, even more independent from Bond than XXX, and has better gadgets than even Bond himself.

    Supporting Bond Girls:
    7. Corinne
    6. Bibi Dahl
    5. Rosie Carver
    4. Miss Caruso
    3. Manuela - for her car.
    2. Naomi
    1. Mayday

    1. Stacey - but she nearly loses top place for her incessant screaming and whining later on in the film.
    2. Octopussy
    3. Anya Amasova

Got to say though - without the 'Moore' filter its a very different story...

    1. Jacqueline Bisset (Miss Goodthighs)
    2. Shirley Eaton (Jill Masterson)
    3. Lana Wood (Plenty o'Toole)
Best Film/Bond Girl/Bond can change daily. But License to Kill is one of the most underrated films ever. L.

I don't think any actress has to act particularly hard when being a Bond girl. A lot of a female character's impact sadly does come down to her attractiveness. Trying not to dwell on either facet:

    7. MARY GOODNIGHT Poor Britt Ekland isn't once called by her first name, so insignificant is she. The accent makes no sense. She has no sense. And that dreadful scene in the wardrobe... My goodness, Goodnight, phoo yuk indeed.

    6. STACY SUTTON Hard to believe Tanya Roberts isn't bottom of this list. She screams too much. She doesn't convince me she's an heiress, a siesmologist or a damsel in distress. Sir Roger treats her as if he was Sir Galahad and doesn't even seduce her after fighting bad guys, baking quiches and drinking two bottles of vino. Just awful.

    5. OCTOPUSSY Maud Adams is okay, but her role is very passive. In a complicated film her role in the smuggling plot seems one step too far. She doesn't convince as a lover for Bond. Her backstory is rushed when it should be more central to the movie IMO. A wasted opportunity.

    4. HOLLY GOODHEAD A superbly obscene name. Terrific dialogue which crackles like a screwball comedy. A pivotal role, after all 007 cant pilot a space shuttle. Why doesn't it work? Maybe because Lois Chiles' manner is so icy she freezes the scene every time she's required to interact with anyone. There's frosty and there's Siberian.

    3. SOLITAIRE Demure, beautiful, fundamental to the villain's own psychological makeup, Solitaire is a fine heroine, a damsel in distress with a difference. Jane Seymour is excellent as the ingenue. The loss of virginity scene just about succeeds because she's so certain of her destiny. Bond's trickery wasnt really necessary.

    2. MELINA HAVELOCK I was very torn. FYEO is a great Bond film and Carole Bouquet is stunningly beautiful. I could nit pick away about the shortcomings but many of those are the director's fault. Melina has an important role and motive in the film. Like Holly, she can do things Bond cant. The revenge element was worked cleverly into the plot preventing her from being window dressing. An important role for Bond films

    1. ANYA ANASOVA Well, I did say I dont believe you have to be the best actor to be a Bond girl... I love Barbara Bach. She is steely, gorgeous, effective and efficient. I like that she is an organiser and thinker, not an action girl. She uses her wiles and wits. She gets the better of Bond several times. Its so disappointing the script has nothing for her to do during the climax where she's tied to a chair. Mind you, if I want anyone to be rescued tied to a chair it's probably be Agent XXX
