I have just finished "The House of Silk" by Antony Horowitz. It's a Sherlock Holmes novel, a continuation novel much like "Devil may care". In the postscript the author mentiones talks with the Fleming family. Obviously it was about writing a Bond novel, but for some reason it didn't work out. do you know of any other writers who have been contacted ansd would you like to read a Bond novel by
Horowitz?

    I would like to read one. When I was younger I read his Alex Rider novels about a teen spy. I could tell that he was a definite fan because he borrows things from Bond such as Smithers Qs assistant, Ark Angel and Scorpia is a rehash of SCEPTRE.

    It's my understanding that the Fleming estate approaches authors about writing a continuation novel. If that's the case, then if Horowitz was approached about writing one and nothing came of it, I wonder what caused the falling out? I think it was William Boyd who said that the estate basically give you carte blanche to write what you like within reason (apologies to Jeffrey Deaver there!) once you have been contracted. If that's the case, then the falling-out is unlikely to have been over creative differences which means it must have been contractual problems.

    Yes, a book from him would be great to see some day!

    I've read House of Silk too....great novel....I'd prefer more Sherlock Holmes novels from him than Bond though....

    Charlie Higson was on BBC Radio 2 yesterday....I missed most of his interview but I'm sure he said he really wanted to write an adult Bond novel...and that he had an idea for one...I think this is a FAR better option... -{

    Higson is a true Bond fan, and he's my fav for next novel. That was his problem with young bond, it feels like he is struggling with writing a teen novel and,would suit adult fiction.

    Charlie has written lots of teen novels...and I enjoyed his Young Bond novels...must have been quite difficult to write...I hope he gets the chance to write an adult Bond novel...
