TWINE's Main Villain: Elektra or Renard?

I've seen both addressed as the lead villain of the film. However, I've always thought Renard is the main villain, given the fact that he kidnaps Elektra and basically manipulates her. It is mainly his plan, the whole nuclear meltdown, isn't it?

Maybe this is another Double-Villain film like OP and TLD in a sense. Your thoughts?

I think it's Electra since it's her cause that they are both striving towards, which was increasing the value of her pipeline. If chronologically, Renard was the villain who kidnapped her for ransom, it was she who actually turned and commited him to her plan of revenge on her father, who did not ransom her. I had a nagging sense of deja-vu when I watched The Dark Knight Rises and it was TWINE that had this "heroine is the real villain" twist! Renard, like Bane, was willing to sacrifice himself for Electra's cause.

I've always said Elektra. She seems to have the most screen time, and the most chemistry with bond.

Most people will think of Renard as being the main villain of TWINE but the true villain throughout is actually Elektra and Renard is just the henchman. I often think of it the other way around when watching the film though, not sure why.

On the deleted scenes, the director explains that Elektra is the main villain, and Renard is a misleading decoy. Hence all this building him up as a bloke who can feel no pain and gets stronger and stronger (not really shown in Carlyle's portrayal it must be said).

Yes, TWINE is the equivalent of the Columbo episode 'Last Salute to the Commodore' Where we are led to believe that Charles Clay is the killer of the Commodore, but is in fact not, as he himself is killed mid-way through the episode. TWINE plays a similar trick - a woman as the main villain, surely not?! - in this way we're led to believe that Renard is the main baddie, but as Apted says, he's merely the decoy, although there are of course similarities tio the villains in OP and TLD too.
