Magnoli cuff links are in!

Just came in the mail,
Does have to discount the cuff links to put them on, or does one just feed one disc through the eyelet of the shirt cuff? It would be a pain to do the former. Very nice by the way.

I have a set as well. I love the look of the double coin design.

But agree it is a pain to get on. I can't manage with one hand and the disc is too big to slip through the cuff eyelet, so I now attach the cufflinks before I put my shirt on and just slip my hand through the sleeve hole.

Yep, I slide my hand through the cuff, with the cuff link on. With out a valet not possible otherwise.

    Here is a wrist shot

:)) That's what I told someone about these cufflinks. Would be fine with a man servant to assist every morning!

the double coin feature is an added bonus and more screen accurate but i wouldnt want to go through the hassle of having to attach the cufflink on first. i'll stick with the T-bar version of these cufflinks. who knows, maybe if they dont sell well enough and magnoli decides to discount them, ill buy a pair just to have the double coin
    Shocking...

I don't have any problem putting these on. Maybe it's because I own other cufflinks with the double-coin attachment.

"Chain link" cufflinks like these are the traditional design, and I personally think look and work better. - The chain doesn't stretch the eyelets on the shirt cuff.

Usually the inner disk is a smaller, narrower job, shaped like a small rugby ball / USA football, designed to fit through the eyelets, so you slide the cufflink into the shirt from the outside in. (I have set like that myself.) As VinnyMac unintentionally implies, practice can also make a difference too!

The T bar design is more practical for everyday dress wear shirts. Lacks the style refinement though. I feel the same way about crocodile clip tie bars. The traditional slide looks much nicer, but that's another topic.
This is Thunderbird 2, how can I be of assistance?

I now have the three sets of Orbis cufflinks that I know to be available ( well, excluding the TFs... ) so I wanted to post them and let people compare. They all look great, and have some interesting variations that are worth highlighting - from there, it's all down to personal preference. I will post this in the other 'cufflink' threads too, as I'm not sure what the definitive one is...
First the Magnolis : The most 'accurate' given the double disk design, but it does make them more fiddly to put on - as others have pointed out, it's much easier to put them on first then slip your arm through the sleeve if you have enough room.

    image.jpg

Next the Alphas : The T-bar design makes them easier to use in a hurry. The slightly larger size makes the legend more visible then the other two pairs. The finish is more 'weathered'. Note, the design of these makes the coat of arms point at a right angle to traditional cufflink direction - this means it is easier to read by others when your arms are pointing straight down.

    image.jpg

Lastly the Hart008s - these have the practicality of the T-bar, and a smoother finish. Being slightly smaller the wording is less visible, although still clear up close. These point the traditional direction, so look sideways when viewed with arms hanging, but 'straight' if your arms are bent ( as at a desk for example ). A nice touch with these is the gift box that carries the crest, and a personalized certificate.

Will have to give it a while to see - I want to wear the Magnolis more because the two disk idea is very unusual ( I know it's more traditional but in reality you just don't see that design worn much these days). The trouble is I never leave myself enough time to sort them out in the mornings, so invariably ended up reaching for the Alphas. I've only just got the Hart008s so will be breaking them in next week!

Really fantastic and fair review. Thank you so much for your comments (awesome photos!!!) and for taking the time and money to help other members. You are exactly what makes this forum so awesome and why I really enjoy this forum. As a fan myself, it means allot to know another fan wears my work and hopefully in a small way makes you feel Bond-like when wearing them. I came to this forum to help other fans, have something that normally they couldn't. Thank you again. P.s here are photos of my latest baby

For those who haven't seen, we've added both the Istanbul Cufflinks and the Macau Tuxedo Cufflinks to our line up:

Also, for those who don't like the double-disc set up, we have a single sided MOP cufflink (albeit in silver instead of white gold):

    Kind regards,

Magnoli sells these "Istanbul" cufflinks here:

I've bought a pair from him plus about 10 Bond ties. Fast delivery and great items. I wear them all the time for work. I also has his "Skyfall" cufflinks which has gotten many comments from colleagues.

kadd, many thanks for your reply. Yes I saw the Magnoli Istanbul cufflinks, but these have a slightly different design. What I am after is the version which "alphaagent" posted above. Any help appreciated to get a hold of these.

I speak to Alphaagent out of the forum most days, he only made one pair and they would be expensive to reproduce, I speak to him tonight and see what his plans are

Oops pulled the trigger too soon... Anyway been meaning to compare and contrast the Istanbul links. I think Alpha's project is on hold for now, but these are the others. First pic is the Magnoli, second is Harts. The Magnolis are bigger and heavier and differ in the stem and ball construction. The surface is also a lot more 'precise' with a sort of machine milled feel versus a more hand made feel to the Harts. Here they are side by side

And a post script to the 'orbis' links : an unfortunate accident with the Alphas ( pushing hard through a thick starched cuff ) left them looking like this : :(

    image.jpg

So I'm going to use the disk as a very cool golf ball marker!

    image.jpg

I am getting good use out of the Hart Orbis though, and have received a lot of compliments on them, especially when worn with the Rolex as the colors really match very well and look very complimentary :
