Artist suggestions for the next Bond theme?

So, Adele's "Skyfall" theme has won countless awards and become a classic Bond theme song. I always liked it, but I was really sold on it when I saw it in conjunction with Daniel Kleinman's brilliant titles. I actually welled up a bit listening to the song when I popped my Skyfall blu-ray in earlier this week. Call me a wuss, but it sure is one epic ballad, resonating with so much more power once you've seen the film.

Looking to the future though, who do you feel could deliver an equally epic or interesting theme tune for Bond 24?

I know Muse were touted, but I can't really say I'm a fan. My feeling is the producers will go with someone who is of the moment, but they'd have to have a touch of class to them, or do things a little differently to the likes of Take That or Olly Murs, etc. Could you imagine an X Factor winner doing the song??! NEVER! So, yes, the artist would have to be original and talented in their own right rather than a flavour-of-the-month novelty act.

My suggestions are, for a lady, Ren Harvieu, who is a fantastic singer from Salford, I believe, who some of you may have heard of. She's capable of delivering big, bolshy ballads like Adele but I find there's a certain sadness in her voice that reminds me of 60's sirens like Dusty Springfield or Nancy Sinatra.

Take a listen to this and imagine a Bond theme in a similar vein: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4cLLn6h1eQc
or, here she is singing You Only Live Twice for the BBC's 50th Anniversary concert: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A2xzzKjmq0E

As for a male artist, I'd probably pick Plan B. Despite his rap background, his "Strickland Banks" album was, again, a great throwback to 60's pop and gentle melodies.

Something like this would be great: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wl1fehfbvlI

(As for Bond themes that never were, I always liked Goldfrapp's "Lovely Head" or even a song by Morrissey called "My Life is a Succession of People Saying Goodbye" - check them out!)

After k.d. Lang's beautiful rendition of Surrender at the end of TND, I would love to hear her sing the actual title song for the next Bond film.

As long as I can direct the music video for it and it sounds 'Bondian' I don't mind.
This was my go at a 007 inspired music video:

Same two as previous for me, either Goldfrapp (moody/icy) or Muse (imagine a chemically enhanced LALD on steroids.

I'm going to say the seventeen year old singer Birdy. Her cover of skinny love was amazing and she could portray Bonds somber, espionage life. What do you guys think?
Also, going out on a whim and saying Of monsters and men, coz I love them and they could bring something fresh to the title song.

U2 should have done one long ago (GE doesn't count). I'm still hoping for U2 to do one, but they're getting old now, so it's becoming less likely as time goes on...

gaga would be good. I like KD Lang, but fear a skyfall type pastiche of what a Bond theme is meant to sound like.

Morrissey would be great - https://vimeo.com/60322502 - but he's very vocally against the monarchy and the British Empire in general, so it would never happen.

The Stereophonics are ready to follow their fellow Welsh Dame Shirley Bassey and Tom Jones and record the Bond theme tune after working with David Arnold on their latest album. Kelly Jones is quoted, "If we are called to do the Bond tune, I'll be there. I think it would be good. When we worked with David on the album, members of the 36-piece orchestra had worked on the soundtrack for every film since Doctor No. It was an incredible experience."

Why Dame Shirley Bassey should sing the next Bond theme:

At the age of 76 when most people would be winding down in retirement, Dame Shirley Bassey proves to the world that her trademark powerful voice has not diminished one bit.

That works really well! To me, Morrissey is as traditionally British and camp as Bond - I mean that in a good way! - and a Bond theme could really give his career a much-needed kick up the backside. I know he's anti-royal and all that, but he loves the kitsch and glamour of the 1960's so surely, at some point in his life, he was a fan of the Connery films at the least? I also believe Moz has said he wanted to do a Eurovision song for a while, so I reckon he'd be up for it.

The ultimate would be a Johnny Marr tune (hey, he worked on the soundtrack for Inception) with Morrissey crooning over the top.

Another good Northern voice with soul is Richard Hawley, he'd do a great Bond theme tune I reckon.

Sterephonics though? Hmmm. Their fortunes have faded in the past few years, do people even remember them?? And yes, Dame Bassey would be a real coup to get back for another Bond theme, she's synonymous with them and set the benchmark. Perhaps she'd be better for Craig's swansong?

I'm completely up for Shirley Bassey.

If not her, Duffy, Lana Del Rey, or Joss Stone.

I'd be fine with Lady Gaga, who I'm sure could pull off a good sound in between 'Speechless' and 'Bad Romance'.

David Bowie - the correct quoitent of weirdness and bizarreness to make his rght for the next James Bond film theme.

Apparently, the Bond producers want Adele to repeat her Skyfall success with a new smash-hit theme tune. They want her to become as synonymous with Bond as Dame Shirley Bassey.

You probably already know, but technicly Joss Stone already did a Bond song. Not for a James Bond movie, but for the game Bloodstone: (I'll take it all)

Thanks for that, I didn't know.

While she has a powerful voice, her problem (like a lot of modern singers, Adele included) is that she doesn't enunciate each word clearly. The lyrics are hard to make out.
