More rock bands doing themes.

Am I alone in thinking that some of the Bond movies could have benefited from more bands like Paul McCartney and Wings doing the songs? I mean in the depths of the 70s there were tons of rock bands that were making a name for themselves on both sides of the Atlantic that I think could have made some pretty decent songs than what we have. Case in point, Queen, why was Queen, an English rock band, who was IMMENSELY popular in both the UK and USA, never approached to do a theme? They could have given a much needed lift to some of those less than popular movies in the Bond series at least in terms of music and it would make them appeal to a wider range of people.
I could also see bands like REO Speedwagon, Journey, and a personal favorite of mine, Styx doing some great themes, and then you get to the 80s and you have bands like Def Leppard and Bon Jovi who could easily have done A View to a Kill and The Living Daylights, while I like what we have with the songs that exist for them, but they could have been better.
What are your thoughts about this? Do you agree or disagree and why?

Gee no thanks,
Well Bon Jovi never hit the big time until 86 if I remember rightly (quick google of Slippery When Wet) and A View To A Kill would have been filmed in what 84 (for a 85 release). I think Def Leopard also really hit the big time there about's this time so prob made it a little late!
Duran Duran were a Huge British band at the time and makes perfect sense, why go outside the UK? Also at the time synth pop was huge in the UK (synths not really a Bon Jovi thing) I could be wrong but imagine that a British artist prob takes priority when looking for someone to make a Bond theme.
By the time of the Living Daylights I believe A-Ha were gigantic in Europe especially UK (not sure about the states) as a kid in the UK I remember them being gigantic though if I remember had already peaked by then!
Queen is an interesting one, maybe they were approached at some point and rejected it, maybe when they were considered but was during the time of Bassey and co, I guess we will never know
Im glad Bond stayed away from 80s US poodle rock to be honest, it was good at the time lol...........

Not really suited for them is it? I guess Bono and the Edge wrote it specifically for Turner!
I guess I see what you mean. I would however be curious as to what a U2 version would sound like

Why do you find them awful? I'm not attacking your opinion, just curious!

works best for Bond. Although I do love
LALD, & You know my Nane.
The Alice Cooper song for TMWTGG, ( it's on the web somewhere )
wasn't very good in My opinion, and the song That Muse
supposedly had for skyfall, was far too over blown.
I don't like Sunday Bloody Sunday or their political stance, it should have no place in mainstream music. Bono is a self-righteous bore, too.
cant stand the guy myself (but we are all entitled too our point of veiw)
Agreed - a self-righteous idiot. -{
Happily, no. )
Yes, I'm sure thast they could have come up with the goods, despite Brian May's perm and his old penny guitar pick and his clogs. X-(
