I prefer if they get a reasonably unknown person to play Bond. Like come on, after Die Another Day who suggested Daniel Craig to be the next 007. My brother reckons they should kill the series once DC has had his turn.
But out of thee people already mentioned, Ewan McGregor, Karl Urban, Benedict Cumberbacht and Henry Cavill are my favourites.

Somebody needs to have a long, hard talk with your brother...and then smack him upside the back of his head. :)) While IMO the Bond series is at an all time low, I would never call for and end to it. And, based on ticket sales, there are plenty who are more than willing to argue that point and say Bond has never been better.

Bond shouldn't stop, ever. Of the four you mentioned, McGregor is too boyish looking, while Urban is committed to the Star Trek movies, and so would be unavailable. Besides, isn't he blond? Can't handle another blond Bond. Cumberbatch is good, but would be a better villain,IMO. I am intrigued by Cavill, tho. He has the look, I've heard good things, but I haven't seen him in anything yet. Should be interesting, whomever they get.
Beg your pardon, forgot to knock...

I never thought about Karl Urban before it is a very good idea.

I hadn't thought of Karl Urban either - he's from NZ but is the right height, and he was good as a tough guy in The Bourne Supremacy.

While I like Benedict Cumberhatch, he hasn't got the Bond good looks (IMO) though he surely has the talent. It's vice-versa for Henry Cavill, he's tall and muscular but, having seen him in Immortals, he's not an exciting actor to watch - just a bit too anodyne. Im sure hes also committed to the Superman films now, too.

Ewan Macgregor has already screen tested as Bond, he'd be pretty good. He's now 42 so slightly younger than DC, but might be too old by the time DC finishes...

I would say Henry Cavill. I want a Bond that is again like the Fleming Bond: Dark haired, tough, but also suave. Cavill looks the part, especially in a 2 or 3 years I suppose. He doesnt have to be as bulked as he looks now though.

Another interesting choice for me could be Matthew Goode. Sophisticated guy, who is a good actor and who also can play a tough character when needed as seen in the movie 'The Lookout.' and now in ' Stoker.'

Matt Boomer looks the part, but an American as Bond? No please.

Pierce Brosnan thinks Colin Salmon would be the ideal replacement when Daniel Craig departs: "I've always thrown Colin Salmon's name in the mix. He's somebody I have worked closely with over the years. He would be outstanding and I think it would be absolutely essential."

Yes, heard this one on the radio this morning. His name's come up before for the James Bond role. Idris Elba would be another possibility for a black James Bond.

If we get a Black Bond it should be Adrian Lester, as he's
from the North, so not a soft southerner. :D Like
Idris Elba and Colin Salmon :p

Thanks KKwheelchair. I am not too familiar with Fassbender's work. In terms of looks, I think he is quite average, than again so is Craig.

Not exactly sure why you're calling me out on this topic, but since you are........As you know, I'm not crazy about this subject, mostly because it tends to bring out certain subtle (and not so subtle) racist overtones. Not because the arguments against a Black Bond are necessarily racist, and anyone who has read my posts knows that I have argued against it myself. But I think sometimes the level of vitriol goes overboard. I don't believe there will ever be Black Bond, but the world wouldn't end if there was.

Called you for precisely that level of sane comment, also I may be mistaken but did you not lobby for Idris Elba some time back? Apologies if I am incorrect.

As this Thread comes up so often Perhaps we could have a perminant
Thread for it in the "Site Help Suggestions & Announcements" :D
I also think that it has become a kind of tradition at AJB to post
Idris Elba name whenever the rumor of a Black Bond is released. :))
I don't have a problem with it myself and feel in mabey twenty or so years
People will look back at us in the twenty teens thinking how silly we all were. :D

I appreciate the kind words regarding "sane comment". I really do try to be sensible about the subject of Bond, but like many of us fans, I get carried way some times (just ask those who get annoyed by my fanaticism about Connery being the best, and my dislike for Roger Moore's Bond!). As to the issue of Elba as Bond, I never lobbied for that. I have mentioned several times that I think Idris Elba would be a terrific Bond adversary, but not Bond. I believe Bond's race and British background are such an integral part of the character that I don't believe changing him so drastically would work. I think I would watch the film, and perhaps really enjoy it as an action, spy thriller, but I don't think I would feel I was watching "James Bond" - it would be someone else.
