Just seen Benedict Cumberbatch in Star Trek - and i reckon he's definitely in the frame! Tough, cool and his looks are improving
I've got a lot of respect for Benedict Cumberbatch as an actor, playing such diverse roles in films like War Horse, Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy, Star Trek, and in the TV Series Sherlock. But I'm not convinced that he looks enough like James Bond to play the role.
If he were given the role, I have absolutely no doubt that he can play the part, nor would I be completely against his casting. But I see him more as a possible villain or ally than as James Bond.
Whover it is, he should be no older that 32 when he takes the role. About Connery's age while filming Dr. No (well, 31). This way we could have a good run of one Bond, if the shoe fits that is.
The scent smoke and sweat of a casino are nauseating at three in the morning. Then the soul-erosion produced by high gambling - a compost of greed and fear and nervous tension - becomes unbearable and the senses awake and revolt from it.

I'm a bit worried I don't see many great actors with the presence out there right now that are British or Irish to carry off Bond right now, too many girly looking actors ) . I agree the actor who plays Bond Should be 30/31/32 so the three year gap between gaps won't be too bad.
Not a comment on his suitability, but at 36 with the next movie at least 3 yrs away he's probably already too old. I firmly believe that the next guy is out there ut not on anyone's radar. He's probably mid to late 20's at most.
Given the longer and longer gap between films these days.
The next Bond is probably just at the conception stage at the moment. )
So England expects ...........

Casting someone like Matthew Goode after Craig wouldn't work. He come accross as a nice man from a nice family. He doesn't look hard, he isn't macho at all.
Here are my criteria for whoever plays Bond next, and then a few solid choices (I think):
1) 6'1+
2) Dark hair (obviously)
3) More famous for TV shows than movies
4) No existing experience that would eclipse Bond
I think guys like Fassbender, Cumberbatch et al. are too famous for Bond. Now, I'm a Canadian, so I don't know how famous the following actors are abroad, but I think Max Brown, from Spooks, Ben Mansfield, from Primeval, or Matthew Lewis, from Harry Potter, would all be pretty good choices.
Brown has the TV spy experience (I'm thinking of Brosnan in Remington Steele and Moore in The Saint), so it's not hard to see him doing well in the role.
Lewis is a bit too nice and too young right now, but I think if you give him six years before the next Bond is cast, he could pull it off.
Along with playing Superman in Man of Steel - out next week in the US - I think this 100 and 10 percent rules him out of becoming the next James Bond actor. If The Man From UNCLE is a hit there will be sequels and it's a spy based film so I can't see Eon hiring someone so closely identified with another spy franchise.
However, even if Cavill doesn't play James Bond he'll still have a tenuous connection with the character. Ian Fleming co-created The Man From UNCLE and Henry is going to be part of the new film version so there's the link!

No.
1. He doesn't look anything like Bond.
2. He's not British.
3. I'm not convinced that he's that good an actor that I can overlook 1 and 2.

So do I. I'd like the next Bond (if he's good) to have a nice, long run.

Henry Cavill has today confirmed he's signed up to play Napoleon Solo in The Man From UNCLE. (I can't be bothered to put in the full stops).
