What would have Skyfall been like with Sean Connery?

Now i don't mean him as Bond but as the old guy that ran Skyfall (whose name escapes me). Connery was offered the role but he turned it down because he has been retired since 2003.

Connery, (Who is known everywhere for the role of Bond ). Suddenly
pop up for the last half hour of the film.
All we'd get is loads of critics/Reviewers/Fans comparing them, who's
Best etc.
I didn't know Connery had been offered the role, I thought the writers
had an idea that it would of been great to get him, But he probably wouldn't
do it. Not to mention the legal battle that would happen when Connery
deciced to take eon to court again over fees or something. )
As I understand, Sean Connery was not offered the role of Kincade. According to Sam Mendes, Connery was considered early on but the thinking was that if he were to appear it would be too much of a distraction and take the audience out of the film.
Agreed.
I don't think any actor who has starred as Bond should appear in another Bond film as a non-Bond character, ally or not.
I would have to agree. It's odd enough seeing Charles Gray go from Dikko Henderson to Blofeld and Maud Adams go from Andrea Anders to Octopussy.
Bringing back a former Bond challenges the actor playing the current Bond unnecessarily. I think Dalton would make a great M. But then it would invite confusion. Is Dalton an entirely different character, or has his James Bond been made M and this new guy is a replacement Bond? It would be the same thing if Pierce Brosnan were cast, or if either of them were cast as villains. Is villainous Dalton a continuation of his rogue LTK agent with a new name? etc.
If you've played Bond, you're Bond. It should be left at that.
They basically inserted Connery into the film with the Goldfinger DB5. I would consider that a distraction that was unfair for Daniel who is working hard to put his own stamp on the role.

Eh, yes and no. Since we see Bond win it in a poker game against a real prick in CR, to me, it became HIS car. I wasn't really reminded once of Connery when I saw Craig tooling around in it briefly in CR. I was more sad to see it....Killed...In the prime of it's life! than thinking about Connery being in it. Though I'd have been sadder if it had been the Aston Martin Vantage from TLD. Why did it have to get stuck in the snow????
shame to see any Aston Martin bite the dust.
are you saying the DB5 in Skyfall is supposed to be the same one in Casino Royale? Craig must have had a few optional extras installed?

If it helps, the one that got destroyed was a scrapped body shell on a modern chassis with a modern interior.
Why not? It makes far more sense that Q Branch tricked out his existing Aston Martin that he won in CR. Why would MI-6 pay to buy another classic Aston Martin for his use? So he could have a company and civilian use vehicle? Nah.
No way jose. MI-6 would not turn Bond's personal car into a work related car to try and save money.
Do you have to drive your own personal vehicle at work? Would your company be like, "well, we're not going to give you a work truck since you already own a Dodge 1500"

In Gardner's Books, Bond drives a personal car that he personally had tricked out himself, and that he personally drives on missions, instead of a company vehicle. A precedent has been set.
"No problem, this is a company car!"

As to actors popping up in a new role, I don't mind too much if it is not blatent. Charles Gray and Maud Adams went from small bit parts to leading cast in their two films. That works. Having (for example) Mads Mikkelsen popping up again would look silly and confusing. Esp as he had impact as Le Chiffre. That applies to all the Bond actors themselves too.
Dalkowski, - Thanks. Sometimes breaking the illusion is a good thing! ;-)
