Independence

Today I come to know that Scotland may become independent. Hurray! It's Connwery's deam and it can come true soon.
Btw. on the back cover of his book being a scot, one (i don't remember who, I don't have the book yet) wrote that since actors tried to do some politics, he dreams sean connery to be a king of scotland :)
And back to the topic, there's a really interesting article about it (after which I hesitate about my respect to moore [everybody can have own opinion{but also every nation should have its own country}]) Unfortunately article is in polish, I putit to the translator, maybe you can understand, it worth trying.

As a stauch Unionist and Sir Alec Douglas-Home fan I must say I detest all Scots Nationalists and their plans for Scots Independence. I wish them and their Socialist SNP every misfortune. :v

As a Scot myself, I sincerely hope Scotland does not break off from the rest of the UK. The red tape alone from splitting up the UK would cost a fortune, and make things very complicated. There is enough senseless expense and waste already without this!

This is one area where I think Sir Sean is wrong. Its also very misleading. If he cherishes the idea of Scottish Independence so much, why does he live abroad and not contribute to the country's taxation? Its all very well to have an opinion, but if you are going to use a public image to promote an idea, you should lead by example. He isn't. A great actor, and I heard a pretty good golf player too! However the politics belong to the backstabbing, corrupt, lying, untrustworthy politicians!

    Sorry, rant over. ;%

I'm Scottish too and I'm with you on everything you said. I'll be massively disappointed if we become independent.

Made me laugh when I was talking about this to a jock who is 1000% for total independance of dear old wee bonnie 'sco-lan'. He's the type who will claim til the sun goes down that his dear native land is way better than England, and that life down here is totally **** when compared to 'home'. Strange thing is that after several decades of living down here he's not gone home yet.... 8-)

Anyways, during our 'conversation' (which in reality was more an England bashing diatribe), I asked "so who's army will be defending your perfect country?"

    Silence........

I'm sure Mel Gibson will help out if Scotland is invaded. :))

Given the amount of myths in that film, I very much doubt that. 8-)

Perhaps Scotland and Quebec could form a new country together. They both wish for independence without being able to afford it.

They could speak French with a Scottish accent and the national food could be a crescent filled with haggis.

Just make sure they pay off their share of the national debt before the go, and pay retail value for all government buildings (hospitals, airports, etc) and infrastructure (roads, docks, etc.). Should be simple pocket change for them.

    Sounds good.

The Scottish version of Sinn Fein - "ourselves alone" and "Brits Out". As a member of the Scottish Unionist Party, I can't say that I agree. :v

Yes, correct. It does mean "Scotland Forever", sorry. I just disagree with any form of militant nationalism, that's all.

No Offence meant, as always I thought it might be a
light hearted bit of fun. I was going to do a joke
about "Coming over a little nationalist " But thought it
might of been a bit rude, and it does lose a lot
    without the hand gesture. :D

No offence taken or intended, TP. A bit of fun on here is what's often needed, after all of the incessant bickering that seems to go on between certain members here. :)
