) agreed it would be nice to have Bond have a happy ending.
Oh, man, no cryptic porn talk here, Mr. Pussy. X-(
Bond is the home if double-entendres though, Chrisisall
So lets agree on the perfect formula for Bond 24:
Big bomb countdown with a big raid, lots of henchmen in matching uniforms, or some other climactic ending
Lots of of double-entendres / one liners
Bond walks off at the end with a lady friend.
Aah, sounds like the good old days :007) )
I don't see them going to that in the next film. However, if they did go with that forumla, if would be a more realistic raid as it was done in OHMSS or the raids in FYEO. I don't see the return of an army of goons in orange jumpsuits sporting the villians logo in some sci-fi/Ken Adam designer lair. Post 9-11 and the reboot the general audience wouldn't buy into it. Even the comic book inspired features have darker tones (Iron Man, Batman, X Men).
It would be nice to see Bond getting to toy with a villain as he did in the old days (there was a bit of that in SF) and end with him kissing the heroine.
It's time again for a loud, colorful, surprising, and fun Bond movie, along the lines of a Connery one. And that can include the whole larger-than-life fantasy elements. Breaking Bad had bad guys in orange suits working in an underground lab, facing off against diabolical villains whose organizations indeed had things like desert headquarters and logos, capers that included train heists and police station assaults, and gadgets and femme fatales. What the show did was scale those elements to fit the world of the show, and it worked because people treated it with the proper wit, imagination, and attention. A Bond film can take the very same ideas and scale them up -- they've certainly done it before. The trick will be for the people working on it to do it in a way that is palatable. For this, I'm not sure either Mendes or Logan has shown anything in the past that they would be up to the challenge. It might take someone fresh, like a Vince Gilligan, to rethink the formulas that contemporary Hollywood over-relies on.
A fun Bond doesn't mean it can't also be shocking or serious in parts. But the "dark" thing in film has been going strong for more than a decade and just feels played out. (Actually, it felt played out five years ago.) They've got a Bond again who can pull off the masculine confidence thing, and Craig has demonstrated that he can smile and even crack a witty joke if they ask him to do it. I don't want a campy, silly Bond, but it would be nice to see one who isn't so morose anymore, and to feel a broader range of emotions than brooding. The end of Skyfall certainly sets things up to go in this direction.
I have said this numerous times before but I think it is time to see the friendship between Felix and Bond develop to where it was in the books. Not that it does in the books bacuase in CR they meet for the first time and in LALD Leiter is the guy Bond has spend a great number of adventures with. But still, I'd like them talking cars, women and maybe the finer points of football
The thing I want is Felix Leiter back, but I doubt it will actually happen. If they want to stay with the continuity (I still have problems with the Aston that showed up in Skyfall however) I guess Bond would have to go to South America, since Leiter is the CIA section chief there since QoS.
What I don't want: GADGETS. I remember watching Skyfall on the premier night and the moment when the machine guns popped out from the Aston left me speechless, but at the first sight I wasn't sure if that was a positive or negative thing! Now I'm used to it, since it was more of a nod to the previous films, the custom Walther was cool but if Bond will begin wearing magnetic watches and other weird stuff again I will be deeply disappointed.
I think there is a tasteful way to keep gadgets relevant while not being obtrusive or unbelievable. Gadgets has always been a staple of Bond and with Ben Whishaw getting so positively reviewed as Q, I'm sure he will return in Bond 24 and on. They just need to be smart and creative about it. It's amazing how outdated Daniel Craig's cell phone is from CR, which only came out 7 years ago.

Just because it's not a smartphone doesn't make it outdated Remember that we're talking about the best phone Sony Ericsson has probably ever produced (the C902 was definitely not a game changer, I have all three Craig era phones and the K800i was definitely the best of them back in it's day). Currently it's lying peacefully on a shelf with a new housing, despite it's not working because something odd has happened to the battery O.o
Anyway - as for Q - Ben Whishaw is absolutely fantastic in this role, but I'm sure you've noticed that this is a different "Q". It's not just the gadget guy anymore, who shows up, shows off and disappears. He's more like a side-kick for every 007 agent who needs advaned help from above, if you know what I mean. So they should definitely keep this character as it was in Skyfall because the gadgetry was actually pretty well balanced in this movie.

That's a British thing, right?

That's 23 years age difference. How Roger Moore!
