I agree with the " More fighting " but so long as it doesn't look
too choreographed, looks more "Raw" as in,
Bond and Red Grant, Bond and Trevelyan & the stairwell fight in CR.
and less of the "Look at how many locks,we're using here " fighting. )
bang on ! Less ' block-slap-block-slap.Less Bond the invincible, more genuine peril and succeeding by his wits. stairwell fight will go down as a series highlight, genuinely nasty.
But I'd still like it to NOT look like the Bourne films. Bond isn't a policeman or a rogue spy - he's 007.
The scent smoke and sweat of a casino are nauseating at three in the morning. Then the soul-erosion produced by high gambling - a compost of greed and fear and nervous tension - becomes unbearable and the senses awake and revolt from it.
Please not another morose, depressed, apologetic, pouting mama's boy flexing his muscles in the suit.
Get rid of him already.
The top 7 Bond films: 1) Dr No. 2) From Russia With Love. 3) Thunderball. 4) On Her Majesty's Secret Service. 5) For Your Eyes Only. 6) The Living Daylights. 7) Licence to Kill.
I kind of agree though, I really didn't enjoy his performance in Skyfall as much as CR and QoS. He is still my favorite Bond, but can we stop concentrating on his faults and just focus on how much of a Badass he is in his future films?
He is not going to be seen smoking. Those days are gone and IMO for the better.
I agree that a theme song punctuated into the soundtrack is important. QoS and TND really annoy me on that one.
As I have said myself on other threads, I really hope we get back to the "formula" of a briefing in Ms office, byplay with Monneypenny and then Bond out on a mission for Queen and country. All this out on his own, out for revenge, making it personal has been done to death....LTK, QOS etc etc.
Finally, I would love to see DC on skis!
The part where you mentioned the TND theme not fitting with the soundtrack stuck out for me. Unfortunately, a problem arose where they switched K.D. Lang's superior song from the Opening credits to the end credits, and this is why K.D. Lang's theme echoes through the whole movie (Which I'm glad, I think it's a far better song than the Opening Titles one). Although, I do agree, a theme song for Bond should go throughout the entire movie.

David Arnold, who composed the song you mention, basically built the TND score around it. IMO it's a fantastic Bond song and should have been played over the main titles rather than the end titles. Record company politics decreed that Sheryl Crow's song should be used, however, so Arnold's song was retitled "Surrender"- though on listening to the lyric it's clear that TND is the correct title! Still, this doesn't affect the score, which is one of my favourites.

My favourite aswell! I just love how much he uses the classic soundtrack, but changes it up and gives it some more energy. It's perfect for Brosnan's movies.
That's true. As a John Barry fan of many, many years I was dubious about Arnold taking over at first- having been disappointed with Serra, Kamen, Conti though not Martin and Hamlisch- but he has demonstrated that he's the man for the job. I look forward to his return.

I thought Serra had his moments, few as they were, and Kamen was very serviceable. Hamlish was okay, but Martin was really really good.
However, Barry was king, and Arnold would be my choice for permanent successor! -{
I think we need better villains, aswell. Bardem was good, but he wasn't living in a volcano, so it's not Bond enough for me (I know that many might say "Times have changed, Volcanos are too crazy for today", but people didn't live in Volcanos and try to blow up the world back then either). We also need more espionage. We haven't really gotten any "spy" stuff since TND, in the Carver building in Hamburg. Bond needs to sneak into some Iranian Nuclear facility or something. Another thing, why is Bond always chasing people? I miss the days when Bond was always escaping. And yes, I know, the beginning of QoS counts for that, but still, I wish that there was still more of it, like in the YOLT, with the rooftop fight, etc.
Think you'll still have him for 25 too....I'd go lie down in a darkened room for a few years...
How unfortunate for the franchise.
Sorry to disappoint, but I live in the fresh air under blue skies and green grass and concrete suburbs.

like two guys just trying to pull eachother apart. Not
graceful or staged but violent and raw.
Definitely a high point in the series! -{
That was a fantastic fight indeed. And the effect it had on Vesper was also a great plot point.
I also loved the rooftop fight in YOLT. An entirely different way to show a fight scene.

Another one of my favorites! -{
Definitely. And also the Palio fight with Mitchell in QoS, dangling on a rope and slugging it out - loved that one too.
I really like that one as well.Brozzer often gets overlooked in this respect.
I take it you are the same guy that has been trolling on Mi6 ? If so, you're stay here will be short lived.
I do NOT want Daniel Craig in Bond 24.

one-liners with the action and story.

It appears that he's a big fan of his work!!
Fortunately you will not get your wish. Time to move on.
