I believe what Peppermill was saying is that Tim didn't seem the type of Bond to say oneliners, but was forced to anyway by the EON producers. (with mixed results...)

I do remember reading that T Dalton and J Glen had several Big arguments
during LTK ending with Dalton saying he'd never work with Glen again. Apparently
one of the arguments was over Glen wanting to drop the one-liners and Dalton wanting
to keep them as He felt it was a srong part of the series.
So dispite Daltons serious image even he knew how Important the one-liners were. )

I agree with you, Dalton's one-liners do seemed forced. Other than that I find his version of Bond to be pretty impressive.
