From Bletchley With Love

I just wondered if anyone here has seen the Ian Fleming exhibition (From Bletchley With Love) at Bletchley Park? I would recommend it to anyone if they have a chance to go. There's a few interesting facts that I hadn't known previously before I went today. For example I wasn't aware that the M character was based on Ian Fleming's real life boss. Also I wasn't aware that the name 'Goldeneye' was based on an operation in Gibraltar that he had worked on during the war. Is this common knowledge to most people on here I wonder? I also brought the book of the same name as it gives some insights into Fleming's life before Bond and the creation of Bond himself.

Very interesting. I think that my brother and his family went there a few years ago while on holiday. Is there a book out called From Bletchley With Love at all? Plus, I'd love to see your pictures! And, yes, I thi nk those facts are common knowledge amongst most Flemingistas here on AJB.

Well the exhibit I assume would possibly be common knowledge to most Flemingistas and it is fairly small, especially compared to the rest of Bletchley Park which is fascinating for anyone interested in the world of espionage, codebreakers or the War in general.

There is a book call From Bletchley With Love (not huge may I add) but hopefully there will be some interesting information in there. Most the pictures I've taken are purely information boards about the operations that Ian Fleming was involved in and a couple of letters from Ian Fleming to his boss which acknowledge that he is indeed the inspiration for M.

Yes, nice to have some written communication to confirm that nonetheless - that is indeed something that I've not ever heard of. I always assumede that this was mainly based on guesswork instead.
