James Bond Marathon

I posted a while back a link on Youtube by Daniel Piper who did 21 Bond films back to back over a 40-odd hour period. But has anyone tried doing a Bond marathon of their own? I am at the planning stage of carrying out my own 23 film marathon (not easily done being married with two young boys.) However, it is one of those things that is on my 'bucket list.' Maybe I'll warm up to it by doing the four film Bourne marathon first? :007)

    I wouldn't attempt it without proper training, Muston.

    Watch the Flint movies, then progress to Bourne, half a season of The Man from UNCLE, a season of Alias, but don't overdo it. Intersperse with The Untouchables, The Wild Geese, Hot Fuzz, Dante's Peak and Layer Cake just to make sure you're familiar with the natives.

    Good kit is essential too. A non-leather armchair will help prevent chafing, and a large paper-mache container with a wide neck will help you avoid liver damage and stay cool even at the tensest moments. Proper refreshment is also critical, just don't make the schoolboy error of packing red wine and fish. Finally just make sure you have a viewing platform so the spouse and young 'uns can cheer you on when you're flagging.

    Good luck, it's God's Work you're doing, son.

    Brilliant! -{ (But don't forget to tell him to watch Universal Soldier after The Untouchables just to make sure all of "the natives" are included).

    Starting my marathon today. My wife left for the Netherlands for 2 months for assignments, so my evenings are free. I am planning to start from the beginning, meaning: Dr No. I will first watch the extra's, like ' Inside Dr No.' to build up extra before starting the movie.

    So, if possible, I will watch a movie every evening. Any of you have extra tips to make it even more enjoyable? First time I do such a marathon. -{

    Hi Mr_Osato, it depends on how well you know the movies. If you have seen them a few times already it might be nice to listen to the audio commentary. I especially like the ones by Roger Moore.

    That is actually a good advice. I have never watched any movie with audio commentary before. And naturally i have watched all Bond movies many times :)

    The audio commentaries are quite interesting. it's nice to hear an actor's thoughts on making the film
    Have you ever heard of the Emancipation Proclamation?"

    Definitely take a break between Bonds..if your doing one a night you may be fine but fatigue sets in at some point & hate takes over, so one day Goldfinger is your favorite and 24 hours later its the worst of all of them. So pace yourself.

    During Christmas Holidays, I watched all of them over the course of 2 weeks. Not sure if that counts as a marathon, though.

    A couple of years ago a friend and I watched all 22 (at the time) over a period of three days. So we watched them back to back, but with two 6 hour sleep periods scheduled. We filmed our experiences and put it on Youtube (see link below). We also had some of our friends drop by and watch some of the films with us. Basically anyone who watched a film was asked to give a short review on camera and give it a score out of 10, and we then ranked the Bond films at the end. It was really good fun, and the thing that surprised me the most was that I enjoyed all the films from start to finish, despite having seen them countless times before. I never got bored, and the only time tiredness really set in was while watching LTK at 2AM at the end of the second day of viewing.
