Aston Martin DB5 - Resurrection or leave it at Skyfall Lodge?

After watching the Astons near total destruction in Skyfall should it be Resurrected in a future Bond film or now be consigned to to annuals of time?

Well i would imagine under normal circumstances, as the vehicle
is/has been driven on the public highway,it would most probably be insured
so the possibilities of it being replaced are at least feasable.
Does any know if H.M GOVT, has a policy that covers employees cars
whilst on duty/active service
In the next film, I'd much rather see James Bond drive a Bentley motor car, as he did in the vast majority of the novels. -{
Yes, it was a send-off I suppose. It symbolised the era of cartoonish elements in James Bond films that has happily passed, for now at least. Let it rest in peace there on the Scottish moor. It is a late car. It has ceased to be etc. etc.

My God, What a beautiful car! While my Fleming Fan mind cries out for the Bentley Continental GT, my movie loving heart and soul screams for another Aston. Movies are so visual, the car has to be just that gorgeous, and the Bentley's lines just don't do it for me. While we die hards might get the reason for the Bentley, I would say that most JB fans identify more with the Aston.
As for bringing back the DB5, it should never have been in Skyfall in the first place. Leave it alone. I've said it before and I'm going to say it again: If JB has been rebooted, then quit dredging up the past and get on with the reboot.

I love to see Bond in a Bentley.

It story terms its a short cut technique to say, 'this is James Bond.'
I remember Martin Campbell talking about in an interview for Goldeneye. When introducing a new Bond surround him by the old and familiar that the audience (joe public) links automatically to 007. Elements include: the tuxedo, the martini shaken not stirred and the DB5.
If you saw a man on the street wearing a tux, drinking from a martini class and stood next to a DB5 your first thought is James Bond.
It was particularly successful in Casino Royale by flipping and putting on a new spin on these elements.
The tuxedo becomes a gift from Vesper a becomes an emotional gift. The story equivalent of his Bat-suit.
We see how he wins the DB5 in the game of poker which foreshadows the main game.
The delievery of martini is flipped from the usual. "Does it look like I give a damn," revealing the character and attitude of this new James Bond.

I'd like to see him have a new Aston as his "company" car in the next film. The car doesn't even have to be "tricked out" with gadgets. A P-99 in the glove box and a submachine gun and /or folding sniper rifle hidden in the boot would be fine with me.

I do agree it's time to let the DB5 die but I would like to see another Aston in the next film.
I think, in fact, Moore was the only Bond who didn't drive an Aston Martin. Connery had the DB5 in GF and TB, Lazenby had the DBS in OHMSS (which made a brief reappearance in DAF), Dalton had the Aston Martin V8 Vantage Volante in TLD, Brosnan had the DB5 in GE and TND (with the briefest of cameos in TWINE) & the Vanquish in DAD, and Craig has had two DB5s and two DBS V12s.
If they do move away from Aston Martin in the future (bearing in mind that they'll be sure to move back again eventually), they could do worse than go back to Lotus:
Bentleys have a completely different image now than they did in the early-50s. A Bentley would be more suitable for a villain.

One of the reasons the Botus works so well for me as Sir Roger's car is the impact of its first use in TSWLM. Maybe part of the issue here is how the car will be used in the film influencing the choice of make and model. I associate BMW's with Mr Brosnan's Bond, but there was no internal tag there, unless you count a BBC Top Gear sketch involving vengence on a speed camera!
As to the DB5 overall, it is already part of Bonds legacy. Whether you prefer Goldfinger's debut or the mad race of Goldeneye, it has served its time with distinction. The V12 DBS has only just got started. Perhaps there is room for something else too?
How about a Range Rover as the winter vehicle? They seem to show up often enough in the recent films! :-) Alternatively due to budget cuts his office car from M could be a modern 2 seater MG convertable?
