Watched Tomorrow Never Dies last night and it was freaking awesome. :x :x :x

I grew up in the 90's with Brosnan as Bond and took it slightly for granted that he was such a perfect Bond. Perhaps TND is too action packed for Dad to understand, but I have no problem with it.

Every serious Bond fan should be knowledgeable with Bond history, but for me FRWL and OHMSS seem like ancient relics. I know you're shaking your head in dismay, but..sorry wrong generation! Tomorrow Never Dies is way cooler!

Now break out the Nintendo 64 and let's play some Goldeneye! This is our era. B-)

90's Bond kid right here! For my 12th birthday EVERYTHING was Goldeneye!
I love the 64 game too. I got to stage where I could complete the whole game on OO mode in just over an hour. The facility and Silo were my fave levels. The new Goldeneye reloaded is terrible. Traded it in after 48 hr. the original Goldeneye I still play now 15 years later!

I grew up in the 1980s, so by rights I should be a Roger Moore fan. But I'm not.

I don't think it's a generational issue, but rather one of personal preferece.

I'm appreciating the Brosnan era more and more... You had:

Goldeneye... pretty cool "Bond is back" movie with a solid plot and updating
TND... a TRADITIONAL Bond film like YOLT and TSWLM
TWINE... My fave of the Brosnans.
DAD... well, the first half was awesome... I loved all the references to the past films.

Nah Brosnan was my First Bond but the 90's sucked balls. Brosnan wasn't a bad Bond but as I stated before his Bond lacked that Killer edge. Thank god for the Reboot I was seriously on the verge of giving up.

- and yes, Brosnan for me has a great sentimental value too! - He WAS James Bond! Still to this very date has there never been a Bond that looked as badass as Brosnan did in Goldeneye!

Not to get too far off topic, but does the "ancient relics" sentiment apply just to Bond movies or films in general? I'm not trying to be obnoxious; as something of a film buff I'm just curious.

And I do tend to think the '90s Bonds are underrated, especially TWINE.

Good question. I meant just in the Bond film timeline where Dr. No is like Year Zero. In the bigger picture the 60's are quite modern for filmmaking. I watch a lot of silent films like Metropolis (1927) and Nosferatu (1922) plus loads of Charlie Chaplin and the Lumiere brothers.

I was born in 1989 so Brosnan was the Bond i grew up with and even though Craig is my fav Bond i still love Pierce's portrayal, i mean the man looked the part (except in DAD). And Tomorrow Never Dies is one of my fav Bond films. its just a great action-packed joy-ride that doesn't take itself too seriously and knows its popcorn entertainment.

Thanks for clarifying. Now that you mention it, I seem to recall your fondness for silent films from an earlier post.

Incidentally, I love Metropolis, Nosferatu, and Chaplin. Nosferatu is actually one of my favorite films (as is the Herzog remake). I need to see more Lumiere stuff. I'm more familiar with Georges Méliès.

Born in '95 (probably the youngest Mi6 agent on this site) and I remember going to see TWINE in the cinema at 4 years old and loving it. Never looked back from there.

Born in 1980, and boy do I feel old reading this thread! I may have grown up with Moore, but it wasn't until Dalton came around when I was 7 that I began to take note of 007. Though probably my earliest Bond memory is watching Moonraker in my older brothers bedroom on his old B&W tv and watching in horror as Jaws walks down that alleyway with that huge head on towards the girl.

I did grow up more with Roger Moore than Pierce Brosnan though as his films were constantly on TV in the late 90's/ early 00's but once DAD came out Brosnan became my favourite Bond and has been ever since.

Without a modern Bond those early classics would likely be forgotten by future generations.

I'm only 18 so obviously I wasn't around when the classic era of bond was in full show but I absolutely love a lot of the old films and watch them regularly. I will admit that the car chase in Dr. No looks awful NOW but I try to think of what it would of been like back in the day and it still entertains me. The first 4 Bonds in a way are the best 4 ever made before they started going of the rails in YOLT. That seems to be a love/hate film and I'm afraid that I'm slightly swayed towards the later...I just can't imagine that many people wet as impressed with it as they were with the first 4 "classic" bond. I would love someone to proof me wrong though.

90s kid here myself too! I was 7 when Goldeneye came out but I only really got into that film just as TND was released. My friend had GE on VHS and Pierce was our 2nd favourite Bond back then after Sean Connery. Obviously I have realised the error of my ways now but I have at least got to thank PB for making me the Bond fan I am today! -{

Craig in Casino Royale is as badass as you can get. He would rip Brosnan to shreds.
