For the longest time Skyfall was annoying because I thought all Bond had to do was duck when he heard M say take the shot.
But I think after posting on IMDB and thinking about it a bit more I realized that there is no way Bond knew where the shot was coming from... it could've been from the air or behind or a good vantage point and he was just fighting as best as he could in the meantime.
How come the pump in Zorin's oil well in AVTAK is easily damaged by a scuba tank, but a KGB agent is chopped up in the blades, it stutters slightly and then works as normal?
Never understood that.
Have you ever heard of the Emancipation Proclamation?"

The blades cannot handle a metal scuba tank, but are able to chop up human flesh.
You of all people should understand that….he had lots of guts!

I managed to watch all 7 Roger Moore films in January.
AVTAK:
Bond and Stacey both had their personal vehicles at city hall and yet they chose to hijack a firetruck. At least it comes in handy for gaining access to Zorin's mine.
I feel like we didn't get our money's worth on the firetruck catching air over the drawbridge.
The police car that falls backwards from the top of the bridge is actually super gnarly and yet it's played for laughs. There should be more medical attention and less comedy.
OP:
When Gobinda's falls off the airplane it looks like he is wearing a bulky black parachute pack over his tan suit. The stunt work and stunt doubling is so good in this film that I'm surprised they wouldn't taken greater care in hiding this. Has anyone else noticed this?
Bond switching the fake/real egg had no affect on the plot whatsoever, nor did the smashing of the 'real' egg seem to matter.
Why does Bond tip-toe in the gorilla suit instead of remaining perfectly still?

Seems that the stealing of the firetruck is easier because that's where they just turned the hoses on the officer....maybe their cars are parked too far away?
It's played for comedy and that's that. Plenty of things in other films should have an ambulance there straight away shouldn't they?

Knowing the parachutes are there because of the Making Of documentaries makes one more aware of the bulky suits, same goes in MR really.
With the egg - Khan won't admit to others in the smuggling operation that it's a fake, but he knows that it is. The fake mean Khan has to lure Bond in so he can find out more about what's going on. Pretty sure the switch is a clandestine way to ensure contact between the two?
The fake mean Khan has to lure Bond in so he can find out more about what's going on.
I don't think Kahn ever realized he bought a "fake" at the auction. He thought Bond recovered the egg from the river and knew enough about it to bring it to India with possible blackmail on his mind.

Bknd hijacked the fire truck in AVTAK because ITS RIGHT THERE and they're being ARRESTED. That's like saying why does Bond steal the bus in LALD, or the moon buggy in DAF. It's right next to Bond, he can make a quick getaway.
M should not have put himself and Q in a position where they would be in a hostile confrontation with C. They should have had police on standby.
M should not have said "Careless" and left it implied that C stands for c***
Madeline's dress during the torture scene is unintentionally hideous.
Hinx was never mentioned by name in the film. How is he supposed to become a legendary henchmen like Jaws and Oddjob if no one knows his name?
Bond shows very little regard for Madeline's safety during the plane vs. car chase.
SPECTRE acronym is never explained. One would think in a film called SPECTRE that it would be mentioned what it stood for.

Love TSWLM but the scene where Jaws is beating the crap out of that van and Rog is sat there all cool. Wow. Me? I would be halfway to Alexandria - sod the bleeding microfilm! The guy is a giant with metal teeth! I wouldn't even care that I look like a wimp in front of Anya.
Agreed. That's the only thing that bugs me about TSWLM….it makes no sense to have Bond not be worried in that particular situation. It also makes Jaws seem less menacing, because if Bond's not afraid of him, then why should we be afraid of him?
because Bond is super tough and afraid of nobody and we're not, except TP of course )
From the moment I saw TND at the cinema there has been one line from Bond that irritates me. After he has spent the night at the hotel with Paris Carver he tries to get her to come with him. "I can get you out of Germany in seventeen hours." (I'm not completely sure about the number of hours, but I don't think I'm too far off)
Seriously? I'm not a secret agent. I haven't even been in Germany, but I'm pretty sure I could get someone out of Germany in less than 17 hours. This line might have been impressive if the movie was set in 1937, but TND is set in 1997.
4 hours is good going really when you consider check in time, delays, deciding what to pack...It takes my wife 4 hours just to pack, then 2 hours doing her make up......etc etc
Bond notifies the baddies at which hotel he will be staying.
Bond (impersonating Saxby) notifies Blofeld that Bond is still alive.
Bond's modus operandi is sometimes just to draw attention to himself. He has confidence that when the enemy makes their move against him he'll be able to better them anyway! After all, he is 'Sean Connery as James Bond, 007'!
That said, Bond's "Hotel Tropicana" line functions as shameless exposition. Its primary function is to help the audience to further navigate their way around the world of the film. If the tip-off mobilises the bad guys, too... bring it on! But also Bond is posing as Peter Franks, and Franks would have an interest in Slumber & Co. knowing where to find him as he'd still want to complete the trade of real money for real diamonds.
Later, when Bond's impersonating Saxby, his heads-up to Blofeld that he, Bond, is still alive is perhaps just a mischievous way of goading the villain... but it does sound as if it might be intended as an attempt to lure Blofeld out into the open, too, since Bond-as-Saxby invites Blofeld to come and see for himself that Bond is alive and playing in the casino.
Bond notifies Mr. Wint/Kidd that he knows who they are, yet doesn't take any action whatsoever.
Bond has reached the end of the movie and is supremely confident, taking to the nth degree the strategy of allowing the enemy to make the first move. Either that or he's just de-mob happy, slower to react than usual having already partially succumbed to luxury and sexual reward.
Actually, that killer look which Bond gives Wint, in the moment that he reveals that he knows Wint's an assassin, reminds me of an excellent moment in FRWL: the split second that Bond remains still, with his hands in his pockets, staring dangerously at Grant as the tear gas explodes in Grant's face (just before all hell breaks loose). True, the direction, editing and timing in the DAF example are more loose, as if Bond allows himself for longer than a split second to stay a sitting duck!
Why does Tiffany decide to follow Blofeld in drag?? It's implied that she was following the cat, but why?
Bond now knows that Blofeld's behind the plot and he's probably briefed Tiffany about the villain, including the fact that he tends to carry a white cat. She's observant enough to notice the cat and she follows to investigate.
I'm suprised the schoolteacher had done business with Wint/Kidd before. (I thought they were strictly hitmen).
Yes, but their 'job description' is oblique. The villain, Blofeld, never makes any explicit reference either to them or their role. Maybe they're 'shareholders' in SPECTRE: they continue to operate even after the apparent demise of the 'chairman' on the oil rig!
Bond's instructions to Tiffany about the cassette tape were not very clear. "Your problems are behind you now."
The main purpose of the line is to amuse the audience. Besides, agents sometimes need to communicate in code. After all, Bond and Tiffany are within earshot of armed guards. Unfortunately she's too much of a "twit" to understand his meaning correctly.
Did Blofeld have any real reason to clone himself other than confusing Bond for a split second?
Blofeld, by now, must be the world's number one most wanted criminal. (He's also recently murdered Bond's wife.) From his point of view, a radical strategy to confuse his enemies seems in order! Then again, Blofeld disarms your own critical point by comically concurring with it, in his dialogue with Bond: "All that trouble and expense, just to provide you with one mock-heroic moment!"
Blofeld is way too lax with Bond in this one…even allowing him to walk right up to the control panels and eject the tape. (Long gone are the days when cassette tapes were this important ) )
( ) ) Blofeld is louche, here. He's probably more invested in his byplay with Bond than he is in his ho-hum latest wheeze to hold the world to ransom. He enjoys Bond's company (at least until Bond's interfering becomes "tiresome") - as does Scaramanga in the same writer's/director's TMWTGG.
I find everything in this list amusing rather than niggling, but, as I've often said before, DAF is a light comedy. Personally, this Mankiewicz/Hamilton 'decadent phase' is to my taste, including all the liberties it takes...
Critics and material I don't need. I haven't changed my act in 53 years.
"I can get you out of Germany in seventeen hours."
Actually he said four hours.
Hey- it IS my third favourite Bond...
My bad, I haven't seen it for a long time. Still, you can drive from their location in Frankfurt to Luxemburg in 2 hours and 49 minutes according to Google Maps. It looks like they coul d have reached Belgium or France in about three hours. In other words, what Bond said sounds silly to me.

Leiter in his home office says like "Hang on, the CIA wants this report yesterday" I understand this figure of speech, but it doesn't make sense here because literally nothing happened yesterday. All events took place today.
When Leiter is being lowered into the shark pit, there is a comic misunderstanding between him and Sanchez about whether or not Leiter will be killed. "There are worse things than death" "See you in hellllllll" Leiter does not pick up on the multiple hints that he will only be wounded. This must have been frustrating for Sanchez as he was running out of clever ways to say it.
How DID Heller know who Bond was?
Would it raise a red flag to deposit and withdraw that money in Sanchez's own bank? Likely close to the exact sum that went missing.
Why does Bond assault MI6 agents and risk getting shot in the process of resigning? All so he could keep his ppk? If he resigned peacefully, it's not like they were going to haul him off to jail or something, right? I like Bond's "farewell to arms" line…and think he could have handed it over and then walked away.
Why does Bond stab the packets of cocaine underwater? Seems rather insignificant damage to the operation in exchange for revealing his location underwater.
