TWINE reception.

I was just checking all of the Bond scores on Rotten Tomatoes when I came across the fact that TWINE only had 51% ....which is 6% lower than TND but more importantly DAD!!! I can't understand this at all because DAD has received nothing but hatred from critics in fans alike over the past few years with many saying it is the absolute worst Bond film where as TWINE is usually just stated to be "an OK Bond film" although some people rate it highly.
Now my complaints may seem strange because DAD is admittedly one of my favourite Bonds but this is purely a personal matter due to the fact I find the film so damn entertaining. Other than pure entertainment value I would easily admit that TWINE is a superior film in every way and I can't help but wonder why it was rated so low back in 1999....or maybe I should ask why was DAD rated so highly??
I've never seen one admissable list on the Internet over the past few years that puts TWINE below DAD. Why have opinions changed so much?

Agree 100%, and I like most of DAD.
I second that. TWINE is one of my Top 5 favorite Bond films.

- Brosnan. As often with Bond actors, his third was his best. he is comfortable in his role, he made it his own. Best examples where the killer of the banker in Bilbao and the kill of Electra. I thought he was absolutely excellent and oozed Bond.
- PTS. Both the scene in Bilbao and in Q's fishing boat where done excellent with a great score from Arnold.
- Sophie Marceau. She was a great villain. Beautiful, sexy, sensual and dangerous.
- Ski scene. I am just a sucker for ski-scenes in Bond movies. It was done well, although not of the level of OHMSS.
Now the weak.
- locations. What was it, kazachstan? Uzbekistan? ' all the romantic holiday spots' Brosnan mentioned. Except for the beautiful Istanbul, which was underused, the locations where far from spectacular.
- Christmas Jones. Lara Croft as a nuclear scientist. This explains the negative reviews of course. Made no sense. Still denise is a fox.
- Rennard. I thought he was quite bland as a main villain. I never thought he was very dangerous. Not imposing at all. Electra was a much better villain.
All in all, I enjoyed it. GE and TND where better movies, but Brosnan was at its finest in this one.
1. Connery 2. Craig 3. Brosnan 4. Dalton 5. Lazenby 6. Moore

That's funny because yesterday I was also on rottentomatoes looking up the Brosnan films and feel the exact same way. Not sure why TWINE has such a bad rating!!
TND and TWINE are just as good as Goldeneye... if not better.
1. GE 2. MR 3. OP 4. TMWTGG 5. TSWLM 6. TND 7. TWINE 8.DN 9. GF 10. AVTAK
1. GE 2. MR 3. OP 4. TMWTGG 5. TSWLM 6. TND 7. TWINE 8.DN 9. GF 10. AVTAK
I agree. I thought the locations were interesting and different.
I also agree with your comment "TND and TWINE are just as good as Goldeneye... if not better." I definitely like TWINE the most of the three. I tend to go back and forth between GE and TND, though I tend to find GE overrated and TND underrated.

A have a real soft spot for TWINE, I genuinely think it's a very well made film and they used a lot of things to their advantage:
-Brosnans acting was used well and he was given a tighter, deeper script
-Locations may not be visually impressive but they are certainly not bad at all. They are the kind of places you would expect to Find terrorists. And I don't know about youse but I find Elektra's manor in Baku very charming.
CGI - I felt it was used extremely well for 1999 and not all in your face like other movies were starting to do ie. the mummy, Harry potter....DAD. The scenes in the pipeline could of turned out to look just as cheesy as many scenes in DAD but I think it turned out excellent and looks as realistic as possible.
Plus many more...
In retrospect though DAD was the weaker film, I've certainly watched it less than TWINE.
Only AVTAK is worse.
